Day 1: Now it has become easier to reach to Gangtok as Sikkim got its first airport in Pakyong last year. Pakyong is about 40kms from Gangtok. You can reach Gangtok from Pakyong airport by local taxi or shared jeep. Book your hotels near M.G Marg, the main market of Gangtok and one of the main attractions of Gangtok. You will find great hotels around Rs 1500-2000. Take a stroll in M.G Marg and enjoy the diverse market with its happening atmosphere. You will definitely find everything you need and if you have bargaining skills(which most Indians have), you can have at unbelievable price! Plan for the next day trip to Lachung(8500 ft above sea level),a small village in North Sikkim. You can ask the hotel manager or local taxi drivers for the trip arrangement. The whole trip from Gangtok to Lachung and back(including fooding and lodging) in a shared vehicle will cost around Rs 2500.
Day 2: Start your journey early as it will take around 6-7 hours to reach Lachung,123kms from Gangtok as you will have some sightseeing on your way . Reach Vajra Taxi stand as your trip to Lachung will start from there. Enjoy the scenic beauty on the way to Lachung. The journey can be little hectic as the roads are not in great condition. It will be evening by the time you reach there. Just freshen up and enjoy the chilling night with some booze!!!
Day 3: You will be mesmerized by the beauty of the place when you will have the first look of Lachung in the morning. Have light breakfast and start your journey towards Yumthang Valley. You will be in awe of the beauty of nature on the way to Yumthang. After reaching Yumthang spend some time and feel the serenity of the place. Finally you will travel to Zero Point(15300 ft above sea level), where the road ends in Paradise! You will realise that the whole journey is worth it after reaching there. Just enjoy Mother Nature! Now you travel back to Lachung and have lunch and finally make your way back to Gangtok! Have a great rest after returning to Gangtok as it will be a tiring day.
Day 4: Have your return tickets booked in evening flight. You can relax and enjoy the whole day in M.G.Marg, do some more shopping, have some great local cuisines. Finally it’s time to return to home with memories of a lifetime and I hope with an urge to come back to Majestic Sikkim.
