Sikkim is a beautiful state of India situated in North East side of India. Sikkim has International boundary with China. You can see the China border easily while exploring Sikkim.
North sikkim is like a paradise for a traveller. It is at hit list for travellers.
North Sikkim is still off beat destinations for many tourists.
Unlike other hill stations North Sikkim is a plastic free zone. You cannot throw any plastic bottle even disposable water bottle is prohibited in North Sikkim region.

Why North sikkim is so special ?
With mesmerizing view of mountains, beautiful waterfalls, broad fully maintained roads, lovely scenes, valley of flowers, cleanest lakes, snow fall, snow covered peaks, calm environment, no crowd,  are some reasons to explore North Sikkim.
Any one who wants to enjoy nature must visit North Sikkim.

What to explore North Sikkim ?

Some must visiting places in North Sikkim are :

1. Way to lachung ( waterfalls in between Gangtok and lachung)
2. Chungthang.
3. Lachung.
4. Lachen .
5. Yumthang valley.
6. Zero point.
7. Gurudongmar lake.

These all places are beautiful. I have no significant words to express their beauty. You cannot define beauty in words instead you will experience by going to that place.

1. Way to lachung:
From gangtok to sikkim the distance of 117 kilometres includes many sightseeing like waterfalls which are the beauty of North Sikkim and gets relief from fatigue. Some of famous waterfalls are :
A. Waterfall near Gangtok.
B. Naga waterfall.
C. Seven sisters waterfall.
D. Bhim nala or bhewma or Amitabh Bachen waterfall.
2. Chungthang: Chungthang is situated at 96 kilometres from Gangtok. Here there is a gurdwara Sahib named Nanak Lama dedicated to first Guru of Sikhs Shri Guru Nanak dev ji. Guru Nanak dev called this place 'Changi thaa'.

3. Lachung : lachung is a beautiful small hill station with mesmerizing views of mountains, snow covered peaks. When sun shines on snow covered peaks, view is so beautifu. Lachung is a small town which is divided by river lachung.

4. Lachen : lachen is a small town of Sikkim which means big pass. Lachen is a gateway for Chopta valley and Gurudongmar lake. Lachen is popular place for Buddhist pilgrims. Lachen is at 184 kilometres away from Capital Gangtok.

5. Yumthang valley: Yumthang valley is popularly known as valley of flowers. Yumthang is at elevation of 3564  meters or 11693 feet. Beautiful roads, beautiful scenes, snow covered trees, snow covered benches, snow covered Hut, snow covered stairs enhance its beauty. There was a hot spring in yumthang. Little market for woolen clothes, gloves, socks, caps , scarf , jackets etc.
6. Zero point : zero point is the last point after that no roads, no civilian roads . At zero point there is India China border. Lots of snow present at zero point . Elevation of zero point is 15300 feet.
7. Gurudongmar lake : Gurudongmar lake is situated at elevation of 5425 meters or 17800 feet . This lake has relation with sikh's first Guru Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Guru ji put dong(stick) in the lake. Where Guru ji put stick that part of lake is not in Frozen state throughout whole year. Some reveals this lake is linked with Budhiests.

Some tips
1. Avoid going in Mid December to January because temperature goes very low.
2. For going to North Sikkim you will need a permit. This permit can make easily from Gangtok by travel agencies with the help of 2 latest passport size photoes, one Identity proof like Licence, Bank copy etc. Our adhar card is not valid for permit.
3. As lachung is plastic free zone. Do not carry disposable plastic waterbottles.
4. You can hire private taxi, share taxi from Gangtok.
5. People who have heart and respiratory diseases consult your doctor's before going to Yumthang or Gurudongmar lake.
