Day 3:Exploring Gangtok city
I reserved a cab(1800/-) from hotel itself for exploring Gangtok city.
Point 1:Do Drul Chorten or stupa
Constructed by head of Tibetan Buddhism in 1945. 108 Mani Lahkor(prayer wheels) which are turned by debout buddhists while chanting "Om Mane padme hum" to invoke Bodhisattva.
Point 2:Namgyal Institute of Technology
Abode of centuries old tibetan-buddhist culture with collection of precious religion and its culture. It's at a 50m distance of Do Drul chorten.
Point 3:Ropeway
Closed due to bad weather condition.
Point 4:Banjhakri Waterfall
ban(jungle)+ jhakri(priest), Nepali folklore says that first jhakri acquired the power of mastering evil spirits from God.
It's a beautiful waterfall park(50/- entry fee) with fun loving activities full of adventure such as crossing tyre bridge, rope bridge etc.One can try Sikkim local attire, Bakhu dress(100/-) with full sleeved blouse known as (Honju).In the front portion, a loose sheet of multicolored woolen cloth with exotic geometric designs is tied(Pangden).Do not miss roof top cafe in park with a beautiful view of fall.
Point 5:Gonjang Monastery
Beautiful monastery with a roof base point from where one can have panoramic view of Gangtok city.
Point 6: Ganesh Tok
One of the most famous temple of Sikkim dedicated to lord Ganesha.
Point 7:Flower exhibition centre
Showcases flowers from different part of Sikkim under a single roof which makes it a heaven for all flower lovers.
Point 8:Tashi View point
It offers panoramic view of Mt Kanchenjunga (unable to click pic due to bad weather)
All above points are in Gangtok city which can be covered in half day.
Back to station
After seeing above points, I returned to hotel, packed up luggage and went to Deorali Taxi stand from where one can get shared as well as reserved taxi to Siliguri or NJP.
