1. Art Café:
Situated very near to Chowrasta in Kalimpong, this cosy café cum restaurant is a hidden gem.
I was in Kalimpong on 25th December and I had been looking for a place where I could meet like-minded people over coffee and music . It was Christmas eve and the Sun was setting behind the hills, leaving the sky with a reddish-orange hue. The church tower stood decorated in colourful lights. It would have been a pity to waste such a beautiful evening in my room . So I took my camera and set off on a café-hunt. 15 minutes later, I reached the Art Café . As the name suggests, this place has an artistic touch to every nook and corner.
I was greeted by a Christmas tree at the door and my ears were filled with the gentle music of a Christmas Carol.
There was an open seating area that does not provide you a view of rushing cars or cacophony of humans. Instead, you get a view of gigantic blue hills standing tall amidst the green valleys.
There were people at tables laughing and singing along to their favourite songs. But the lyrics of a familiar song caught my attention - "And darling I will be loving you 'til we're 70 And baby my heart could still fall as hard at 23 And I'm thinking 'bout how people fall in love in mysterious ways Maybe just the touch of a hand.. " We later on joined this group sitting next to our table and kept humming the tunes of Ed Sheeran.
Rest of the evening was spent in hogging up a delicious pizza and lusting over a mocha coffee .

2.Café Kalimpong:
It was serendipity that took me to this much-talked-about café in town.
I stumbled upon this beautiful café which is now three years old!(opened in 2017) The café has a personalised touch to it and each corner is well decorated with plants and handicrafts. We met the owner who was a very humble guy and talked about the weather round the year and his plans of extending the café. We had reached hungry before the opening hours of the café but the hosts were kind enough to serve us.
We were served with a refreshing plates of eggs, sausages and coffee for our breakfast. The food was delicious and it pleased the eyes too.
The open panoramic view of the hills was breathtaking. The view of Nepal and Sikkim visible to the naked eye on a bright winter morning made me believe that this café was the best of all I have had visited that year. The graffiti and lovely portraits on the wall and handmade crafts gives this place an identity of its own.

3.Cafe Refuel:
This café is a Bikers' delight and an evening retreat for all the local foodies and tourists.
While a retro-modern bike placed just at the center of the café catches your attention first, the variety and quality of the food served here will slowly overtake you(pun intended).
This place has some of the wackiest bike-themed creativity I have ever come across.
In fact very few cafes can serve such good quality food in such affordable prices. And believe me when i say this: They serve the finest roasted chicken at a price of 200 INR!
Being a big foodie, I tried all their best items until it was time for them to close(Most of the restaurants close as early as 8 pm because of the cold). We ordered our food which made for a delicious dinner and it was a way to essentially ‘refuel’ before a long journey uphill.
