Tsomgo Lake, also known as Tsongmo Lake or Changgu Lake, is a glacial lake in the East Sikkim district of the Indian state of Sikkim, some 40 kilometres from the capital Gangtok. Located at an elevation of 3,753 m, the lake remains frozen during the winter season. A must visit for every tourist and travel enthuse who loves to create memories from the mountains, and lakes.
From October to December, the lake is partly covered in sheet ice and migratory birds can be seen waddling in the lake's water and to witness the vibrant color riot of rhododendron and primulas around Lake Tsomgo April to May is the best time to visit Changu Lake.
The best actitivity to do around the lake is to take The Yak ride, decorated with colourful attire is an amazing experince at the lake. You need to take a Permit in advance to visit the lake as its very close to Chinese borders. Only Indians are permitted to visit the lake, foreign tourists are not allowed to visit this scenic beautiful lake of Gangtok
