Picture living in an Italian home surrounded by 4,000 hectares of forest, munching on Sicilian cuisine while taking in pleasing views from the balcony – sounds perfect for 'work from home' or for that retirement plan, doesn't it?
Well, now it is possible to now own your home in Italy at a knock-down price, without causing any dent in your wallet.
While others’ vacation plans include a stay at an ancient European home, you can soon call such an abode from Italy your own dwelling.
As per the media reports, the latest buzz in the global real estate market is from the land of pizza, pasta, gelato and coffee - Italy!
Pay just one Euro (Rs 87) and hang your name plate on the Italian abode in the Sicilian town- Troina! One of the most beautiful and elite villages of Italy with spectacular panoramic views, the town is well-known as the “Balcony of Sicily”.
What's the catch?
Well, Troina, once a Norman capital of Sicily, now has lost its old golden charm, many homes are abandoned and town officials have come up with the luring offer to attract newcomers to this medieval village of Sicily.
This amazing idea has the two sides of the coin:
One offer is restyling a home where the city corporation would sell the property to you at 1 Euro. However, you need to pay 5,000 Euros as a deposit and within three years of signing the bond, the property needs to be renovated. 130 such homes are up in the market for grabs! And yes, you are going to get your deposit of 5,000 euros back, once the renovation work is complete. Not bad, right?
The other offer includes the huge concession on renovated homes, which are habitable. The icing on the cake is new residents can skip property and city service taxes for three years. Voilà!
Surrounded by a beach, oak forests, lakes, mountains and orange grooves, Troina is an ancient Italian village with historical, cultural, gastronomic and linguistic heritage and this innovative move from the local authorities is aiming to preserve and maintain the quality and heritage of the village.
Like the other villages of the globe, here too, locals have left their ancient homes in search of modern lifestyle, and have migrated to the cities. The entire project is to give the much-needed breather to the Italian village, and help regain its lost identity while encouraging the people to get back to the heritage homes.
There is more...
According to the reports, a home to the first cathedral of Sicily by Normans, Troina has joined the other Italian villages Mussomeli, Sambuca and such in this revival journey.
Once a flourishing town buzzing with the great community of local Italians, artisans, merchants, travelers is in dying position and now here to have its past glory back with this plan. The way, world is going digital, though you will be living in the countryside home, you would be completely connected to the globe and the universe.
A place to live an authentic Sicilian life, Troina is located in the Nebrodi National Park in the province of Enna, Sicily and has those picturesque small roads made of steps, and an old world feeling that still boasts archaeological sites with signs of ancient civilizations. It’s a dream place for stargazers with its clear and unpolluted night sky.
So, what are you going to order next? A cup of coffee or an Italian Ancient Heritage home in an evocative town? Embrace La Dolce Vita.
