Jarreh- Kazerun Narcissus Flower Plain can only be seen in the first three weeks of February, and if you are late, you have to wait a year for it to be possible to see it again ...
The beautiful and fragrant Narcissus flower, which is called Narges in Persian, is known as the symbol of the beloved's beautiful eye in classic Persian poems, such as the meaningful and romance poems of Hafiz. The fertile plains of Fars province are very suitable lands for planting Narcissus and Kazerun town in the west of Fars is known as the home of this stunning flower which is grown during winter.
Every year in January and February the fields around the city of Kazerun, about 65 hectares, change into a heavenly land covered in young and fresh Narcissuses. The whole area is dressed in white and the gentle and sweet aroma of the Narcissuses dazzles everyone’s mind! The most beautiful and fragrant species of Narcissuses is called Shahla which is exported to the other cities of Iran.
Besides the wonderful Narcissus lands and the pleasant mild weather, Kazerun has magnificent historical monuments and attractions, including the giant statue of Shapur and the deep cave, the remains of the ancient city of Bishapur and the glorious bass reliefs of Shapur, the Sassanid king. So, spending a day in Narcissus lands and ancient heritages of Kazerun in February seems to be a very good choice.
With this in thought, my wife and I, along with my two children, did our best to visit these beautiful flowers in Early 2020. We had the opportunity for three days and two nights, We booked a rental suite called "Golestan Guest House" in Shiraz through the tourism rental site( Otaghak), which was reasonably priced. and the existence of a parking lot was important for those of us who were in a private car. We paid 100,000 Tomans(Equivalent to $ 5 at the time) for each night, which seems to be a good price for a suite of about 25 meters, which is located a short distance from Saadieh and Hafeziyeh.
It had not been four months since our last trip to Shiraz, but if we always visit Shiraz, it is still not enough!
Early in the morning of the 28th of January, we set off on the road and stopped for breakfast in the "mountain park" of Shahreza city . This park is before the entrance of "Shahreza city" and has suitable facilities even for overnight stays.
After moving again, the children lost some of their initial mobility and slowly fell asleep, and my wife and I had the opportunity to talk and review the plans together again. After many years, we were supposed to visit the tomb of Cyrus the Great again to reminisce.
We reached Pasargad. Snow covered the ground with white and gave a beautiful appearance to the palace grounds.
You are free to search the internet about the history of Iran and the ancient site of Pasargad.
After an hour of sightseeing, we decided to find a restaurant in "Pasargad city" and have lunch. After looking around, we found a traditional restaurant called "Gerdoo", which was an old and renovated house that had a beautiful view. The price was also reasonable and 35,000 Tomans($ 1.5) was paid for each kebab and side dishes.
The owner of the restaurant was a friendly woman with whom we had a conversation after the meal and we found out that an earthquake had occurred in the "khane zenian city" in the west of Shiraz the night before, and some people are also felt shocks in Shiraz .
The weather in Shiraz was good and there was no unbearable cold. The people of Shiraz, happy with the rain and snow that had fallen a day or two ago, had found an excuse for fun, and in their conversations there was also the discussion of the earthquake and its aftershocks!
We arrived at our accommodation and rested a bit. You could not come to Shiraz and not see "Hafezieh" and "Saadieh". In fact, if we lived in Shiraz, we would have to go once a week.
Definitely if you are interested in Iran, you must have heard the names of these two poets, if not, research them!
After spending the night in Shiraz, we returned to the residence and prepared the necessary ingredients for cooking a stew from the shop next to it, and my dear wife completed the pleasure of that day for us!
We were supposed to go to "Kazerun" early in the morning and then to "Jarreh" village and the place of "Narcissus Flower" plain. We had registered our trip on the couchSurfing site, so a few friends were interested in meeting us. From them, we chose a family of three to meet after returning from Narcissus Flower plain.
We left Shiraz early in the morning. The closer we got to "Arjan plain", the more snow there was on the ground and we were tempted to stop playing snow for a while.
When we got close to "Kazerun", it was as if winter was over and we entered spring.
In Iran, you can experience four seasons at any time!
We entered the village of "Jarreh". To the right, we saw date palm trees along the shallow "Dalaki" River, and in every corner we saw a group with Narcissus Flower that they had for sale.
Just opposite the image above is a dirt road that leads to the Narcissus Flower Plain. There is good parking and space and it is not too crowded. From a distance, it does not look very special, but when we entered the area, Our eyes stared at the beauty of Narcissus flowers , intoxicated by God's grace to create so much beauty, we took pictures with the camera in our hands like all visitors.
Fortunately, all visitors are trying to preserve nature, and the story of last year, when the flowers were attacked by a group of irresponsible visitors, was not repeated. Of course, there is still a week left until the start of the annual festival, and the reason we decided to go there a little earlier than the festival was the experience of friends who had registered as a travelogue on the Internet.
The narcissus flowers of this city have a special freshness and quality and include several species such as "six-feathered", "Shahla" and "ordinary" narcissus, among which, "Shahla" narcissus is famous for its special beauty and smell. January is the flowering seasons for narcissus.
The daffodils of "Kazerun" city, which are mainly in Three villages named "Jarreh", "Baladeh" and "Balbalak", are exported to Isfahan, Tehran and the southern margin of the Persian Gulf due to their high quality.
After completing the visit of the Narcissus Flower Plain, which was the main purpose of our trip, we slowly returned to Shiraz to reach the appointment we had. Of course, if you have the opportunity, "Kazerun" city also has a lot of historical attractions to visit.
We returned to the residence and after rejuvenation and according to the time we had, we went to the grounds of "Karim Khan" citadel, where the Shirazis themselves go a lot for sightseeing.
We met new friends we had found through Couchsurfing.
They brought us sweets, fruit and tea. We had a friendly conversation and it was as if we had known each other for years.
After an hour of talking, we said goodbye to our friend and returned to the residence and had dinner and spent the last night of the trip in the morning in peace.
Considering that it takes less than six hours to get home, we decided to visit one or two other places in Shiraz. We took our belongings from the residence and left after having breakfast and delivering home.
We went to visit several other tourist places and since this travelogue is not dedicated to Shiraz, I will only share some photos of it.
You should also know that in order to visit Shiraz completely, you need a week of time for history and a week of time for nature!
