A tiny dot on the world map, Seychelles has become a preferred honeymoon destination for couples all over the globe. Comprising of 115 islands, this nation has seen the likes of William and Kate and our very own Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan. There is a direct flight from Mumbai to Mahe Island and a 30 day visa on arrival. On my visit to Seychelles, I was put up at the Savoy Resort and Spa. It is located in Beau Vallon which is a bay on the coast of Mahe. It is quite popular because of the sheer number of resorts located here.
The minute I drove into the resort, I was mesmerized by the vastness and the beauty of it. It is a five star property in every sense. The entire property is well planned and it is a gorgeous beachfront resort in Seychelles. The reception area is huge and there are different seating arrangements made for the guests.
Rooms
The five star property has 160 rooms which are divided into twin rooms, junior suites, suites and penthouse. Every room has excellent decor and is fully furnished with a large balcony overlooking the garden or the ocean. It offers spectacular views of the hills on one side and the ocean on another. Every room can accommodate three adults. The room has air conditioning, a mini bar and free Wi-Fi. The Junior Suite is equipped with a bed, television, seating area, a dining table, kitchen, air conditioner, powder room, tea/ coffee maker, dressing room and a huge balcony. Here is a glimpse of the Junior Suite I had the opportunity to stay in.
The resort offers breathtaking views of the lush garden in the day and at night. You can spend long hours in the balcony soaking in the beauty of this island which remains untouched by the mad rush of the world. Spend blissful moments with your partner at the calm and serene beach.
Dining
This resort takes food very seriously. They ensure that every guest is well fed at all times. There are two restaurants and a bar that serve International cuisines. Grand Savoy is a restaurant located in the main building and overlooks the gardens. There is a new theme every night with a number of live counters. The Pescado restaurant is situated adjacent to the Main pool and it offers delicious seafood. There is an à la cart menu and a list of wines to complete your meal. The Gecko bar and lounge is the most special part of the property. You can sip your favorite cocktail while watching the sun set over the beautiful and vast ocean. What better than a live band to make your evening even more special! The bar has a serene white theme and overlooks the ocean.
Activities
The facilities offered by the hotel include an outdoor pool, gym, a library, kids club and spa. You can walk to the clean and serene beach right outside of the hotel. It also has a fully equipped tennis court. The library is located in the main building and has enough books to keep you engaged throughout your stay. Further, the kids club is an ideal fun place for children. There is a playground, toys, books, colored books and billiard for the young minds. There are game consoles and LEGO blocks for one and all. You can also ask for babysitting service while you enjoy your time.
Savoy Spa offers a luxurious spa experience in the full equipped Treatment Suites. The spa is located amidst the lush green mountains and also has changing room facilities and private showers. There is a steam facility which includes a Russian Banya. Additionally, the gym at the resort has the latest equipment adjoining a Yoga and Pilates Pavilion. Unfortunately, I was unable to explore the spa or the gym since I had a short stay at the property.
Service
The property is huge and it remains booked during the peak season. This means there is huge staff employed to meet the demands of the guests. However, I would rate their service as average because most of the staff was too busy to answer. Right from the receptionist to the bell boy, everyone is always too occupied to pay heed to the guests. There is a need for improvement in the services offered to every guest, the personal touch is missing here. However, The service at the restaurant is excellent and the staff is attentive and will ensure that your dining experience meets your expectations.
Verdict
An extremely luxurious property amidst the beautiful ocean and the hills. I would totally recommend the resort. I would rate it as 4.5 on 5.
