1. Be Roman while in Rome.
I follow this rule whenever I am travelling. If all travellers find just basic amenities like food and shelter , locals will not worry much of creating big hotels with modern amenities over Mountains. That will save the ecosystem, electricity, water. So I ditch the fancy hotels and prefer staying at homestays.
2. No plastic water bottle.
I have recently incorporated this habit too. I was being told that people like me, from plains when go to Mountains we should have packaged mineral water. As the rough water is not suited in our stomach. But I drank hotel waters from their pot only while visiting Sikkim, and I absolutely had no problem.
3. Local food are the best.
We all probably know this by this time. I am a traveller and a foodie. Believe me this is the best chance to actually taste a dish. I mean I always found street side Momo in Sikkim are tastier than very good restaurants of kolkata.
4. Responsibility not only for environment but for the locals too.
We spend thousands on a bag or a fancy dress. But when it comes to travel we search for low to no budget travelling. But I find happiness when I can pay fully for the hardwork of the local people. They are poor innocent people, the smile on their face is unadulterated. So I prefer not to burgain with the locals.
5. No over exploration
Explore a place is surely exciting. But driving a car on the shore, explore deep inside a forest or going up and up in the mountains when it's snowfall can be dangerous. It's dangerous for the place, for the Flora and fauna or for the locals taking you along. Sometimes locals take in such adventures as huge money are offered to them. But I absolutely never do such kind of fun activities when in nature.
Lastly whenever travelling my moto is to enjoy nature, feel it, soak it and revive replenish my soul, declutter my mind and store energy for thriving in the city.
Nature is our home. Don't make it a trash bag. It's our duty to keep our home clean and beautiful.
Happy travel, #responsibletravel
