Rome, one of the most magnificent cities in Europe is no stranger to travellers. If you love to travel then there is a very high chance you may want to tick this city off your bucket list.
We stayed here for three days and we purchased the hop-on-hop-off bus tickets for 48 hours because it covered all the tourist attractions that we wanted to visit. In fact, we didn't even have to take the public transport to travel!
On the very first day, we went to the world-renowned Coloseum. We booked the entrance ticket online because they sell off very fast as it's nearly impossible to get the ticket instantly at the counter. Even though the tickets are being sold as skip the line tickets, we still had to wait for sometime because almost everyone bought the skip the line tickets and we have to queue up to enter! One more thing, the timing chosen at the time of purchase is the time within which you must enter. Otherwise, the ticket can not be used after the time has passed.
If you are in Rome, you have to visit 'Vatican City'. This small city is a different country on its own even though it is part of Rome. So you am add an additional county to your travel list when you go to this holy place. Since we bought the hop on hop off bus tour, we went there via this his without worrying about how to go. The bus will stop right at the entrance of Vatican City and from there we walked to St. Peter's Basilica. Be prepared for a long walk because it takes quite sometime to reach the Basilica. If you are planning to visit the Vatican Museum, which we did, then you need to walk even further. There will be helpful people on the road to help and direct you. We were helped by so many good people, without even asking for help and they didn't try to sell us anything either.
You can not come to Rome and miss out on the Trevi Fountain. I have seen so many beautiful fountains in theory but this is one that tops it all. Of course, no matter what time of the day you go you will find a lot of people surrounding and clickin pictures of it. The beautiful structure is a sight to behold and I must admit that photos do not do justice to the real fountain. So, of you happen to visit the city, you shouldn't leave this out of the lit of places to go to.
The Spanish steps is another one of the attractions in Rome that you should visit. It is a superb place to just sit and watch people or soak in the atmosphere. If you get tired of sitting, just walk around because there are many shops and places to eat!
We had a lovely time here and it is one of the places where I wouldn't mind going back to. The place has so much history and beauty, the food is awesome and the people are so so friendly and kind.
