Travelling 550 kms from my home town seemed to be a very hectic task. But where there is will, there is way.
Cutting right to the chase, we didn't reach tungnath on the first day itself.
The bike broke down in the middle of nowhere but we managed and took a lodge for the night before Agastmuni.
Starting at around 10 in the morning, the bike broke down again and stopped just in front of a mechanic's shop.
2 hours were consumed there.
After riding slowly about 3 hours, ice started to appear on the road reducing the speed even further to the point where the bikes could not go further.
Finding a parking spot was difficult..but after parking at around 5pm, the trek to find accomodation started.
There are jungle camps 7 km from the place we parked the bikes (on the way to chopta).
Anyone looking for accommodation should take tents costing 1500/tent.
If you are on a budget or alone, you will reach a dhaba who has a room under dhaba costing 800/room having 3 beds.
Electricity is provided in the evening for 2 hours to charge phones.
Starting from the room in the morning at 5am, the way to chandrashila was covered in thick ice.
Anyway, we took a direct route leaving the road behind.
The real adventure started when the ice was almost 2feet thick and the route was too inclined .
Suddenly a Tibetan mastiff joined us (out of nowhere).
It took us full 5 hours to reach chandrashila where we had breakfast.
Starting from chandrashila at 12pm, the starting 10-15 steps for starting the tungnath trek took us 15 minutes to be covered. The local guy told us that not even other locals had gone there till that day due to heavy snowfall.
After discussing among our group, we decided to go back...now through the road.
The trek was incomplete.
We reached the jungle camp at 4:30 and to our bikes at 5:15.
Now to conserve time , we decided to stop in Rishikesh directly.
We reached Rishikesh at 12:15am and took a hotel by 12:30.
Leaving the hotel in Rishikesh at 9:30am and 1 hour for Rishikesh discovery, finally we left for our hometown ,thus completing our INCOMPLETE TRIP.
