Next, we made our way to Lohajung (base camp for this trek). At Lohajung we made ourselves ready for the acclimatisation session.
This is when we understood How The Trek Is Gonna Be! :p
1st Day - Towards Didana (2700m)
It was approx a 8 km walk through the plain mountain roads. We started by 7 in the morning and reached only by 2 pm. It was easy at first but only to get difficult while descending to reach our first campsite at Didana. It was a long day full of adventure and breath taking views of lush greenery.
2nd Day - Towards Bedni (3354m)
Our next campsite at Bedni was OHMYGODDD!!! We started by 7 and reached by 3. It was the highest ascend of 12 km through forests and open lands and never ending mountain chains. Never had I seen such a beautiful place. There were open lands that never end and greenery that never fades! Bedni Bugyal as it is called (Bugyal means flat land) was mesmerising. I wished to stay there forever. It was the most beautiful campsite!
From Bedni, peaks like Mount Trishul and Mount NandaDevi are visible. The entire trek to reach Bedni was covered with clouds and fog, yet it was beautiful! The campsite at bedni was so colourful - Blue's and Green's and White's and Brown's!
3rd day - Towards BhagwaBasa (4100m)
This is the campsite from where our summit to the famous Roopkund Lake starts. But the trek to reach BhagwaBasa is tough. A steep climb of 80 degrees is expected. Begginers find it really tough. High altitude sickness is very common at this stage. Proper medication is needed. Some are victims and some freely do it.
The climb to BhagwaBasa is challenging but with the nature and beauty and a little help form the friends, it is very much possible.
The land at BhagwaBasa is very uneven for one to sleep peacefully!
For the summit, we start by 3am. Due to a little showering we start an hour late. The SUMMIT DAY is not just a day. It is a 6-7 hour trek both ways with high rocks to step on and 60-70° to climb. Oxygen problem may affect a few. Not all from our group Summited due to Hight altitude problems. But those who did (including me), it was a Lifetime Experience!
4th day- Towards Bedni - Patalnauchni
After our summit to Roopkund we made our way back towards Bedni and then to downwards to Patalnauchni on the next day. Then from Patalnauchni towards wan. And from the jeep towards Lohajung.
The descend from Patalnauchni to wan was challenging too. It was a long day again! But the happiness of summitting was much more!
That's all folks!
P.S. Roopkund trek is not advisable for Begginers as it is challenging. Only fit Begginers can do it easily. The days get tough there so you need to be mentally prepared.
Best season is from may to june and sept to October.

Happy Trekking, Happy Travelling! :)
Climbing up a mountain is not just about adventure and risk, sometimes it makes you a better person and makes you value your life. Many people asked me for why do I adore trekking so much? I find myself the most content out there while trekking is because being friends with the million stars and the unending ranges of the Himalayas is all I want to ask for!
So, being a regular trekker, Roopkund had always been on my top list. Juggling with my college dates, I finally made a 2 week leave for this adventurous yet challenging Roopkund trek.
With a group of 40, I started my journey towards Uttarakhand. Initial 4 days were sight seeing at Hrishikesh followed by River rafting in Haridwar.
Next, we made our way to Lohajung (base camp for this trek). At Lohajung we made ourselves ready for the acclimatisation session.

The breath taking views or walking-on-clouds feeling cannot be explained. The first time I saw the roopkund lake, I was relaxed with a big proud smile on my face. I MADE IT TO THE TOP. (16500 ft) YAYY!!
