A Bhutia village? Yeah, you heard it right! A community-based village tucked at an altitude of 4600 ft above sea level, beyond misty woods, majestic mountains and patchy serpentine roads - Kewzing offers a sneak-peek into the local Bhutia culture and pristine natural beauty.

Before I arrived at Kewzing, we were welcomed by a series of patchy-serpentine roads and crisp cool breeze. The closer we were getting to the village, the more we could feel the temperature dropping as the village is located near the Himalayan peaks.

After a long & tiring journey of 6.5 hours from Gangtok, I finally reached Kewzing. Not to mention, on my way from Gangtok to Kewzing, we also covered major sightseeing spots like Temi Tea Estate, Samdruptse Monastery & Buddha park.

And as soon as I arrived at our Airbnb in Kewzing, I was welcomed by our super accommodating hosts with some steaming hot chai and zhero (a deep-fried local snack).

And, sipping on some hot chai, with a view of majestic Mt. Kabru on a lazy afternoon was truly a delight in itself. For a moment, I forgot all my worries and sat calmly with my legs folded on the machaan (a wooden platform). I was so mesmerized by Kewzing’s natural beauty that it wasn’t until 4:30 pm that I realised, I have passed more than an hour just by gazing at the mesmerizing views of the surroundings.

Soon after, I went into our rustic wooden cottage and got myself some deep sleep with the heater on. Later on, we were invited into the common dining area for a scrumptiously prepared home-cooked meal. And to be honest, we gorged on the dinner as we were quite hungry.
