An ideal destination for a perfect sunset. The serpentine roads below, the cool wind and the view of the patrpatu dam glistening in the hues of the setting sun makes it a perfect combo. There is sitting arrangement for the tourists and roadside food stalls to cater to the tastebuds.
On the top of a hill within old ranchi is the famous pahari mandir. A flight of stairs leads from the bottom to the top of the hill which you have to traverse barefoot. It offers a different feeling all together.
Hidden among the greens is this magnificent waterfall. Down the stairs it leads to the river side where you can sit on the rocks, dip your legs in the cold water and feel the current of the stream flowing by. But the surroundings of the place is a bit eerie and few years back also it was a favourite hub of the naxalites.
A magnificent dam with clear blue water and white cranes hovering over it. The expanse is huge with a vague circumference line of green mountains.
The highest waterfall of jharkhand, it is known for its roaring sound and the tremendous force with which it lashes down. Now the maximum amount of water is being diverted and used for hydel power generation and henceforth the volume of the Hundru Falls has thinned though still what remains is enough to horrify and hence during monsoon and heavy rains the tourists are not allowed to go to the bottom of the falls. To experience its vibe you have go down the stairs to the bottom of the hill and most of the time hardly a few people go there...and the only thing you can hear is the deafening roar of the waterfalls. There're some shades on the way down where you may find a few Adibashis (natives/ tribals) sharing their story.
The road to this hidden treasure is indeed a bliss to the eyes. Through the lush green runs the Chaibasa Road. And the further you go a heavenly silence grasps you. A Pin drop silence. It's indeed a hunt for the adventurous souls.
It's the origin of five rivers. A little barren area studded with boulders. Its rocks tell the story of the Chhotonagpur Plateau, one of the oldest on our planet.
Located in the city itself it offers a magnificent view of Ranchi city. It was once a vacation destination of the Tagores. Jyotirindranath Tagore spent his last years here in a hilltop villa in isolation. It provides a great view of the sunrise and sunset and if lucky enough you may catch a rainbow hoisted from the plains below after a short splash of late monsoon rain.
