I am from Ahmedabad and for 'Amdavadis' Udaipur is one of the favourite place for weekend gateaway, 5-6 hours of drive.
So this blog is all about Udaipur with my love-my wife - Sagar Sureja
1. Hotel Udaigarh ( Stayed for 02 Nights , INR 1500-2500/night )
This hotel is situated in main area from where City Palace, Gangaur Ghat & Boagore Ki Haveli are quite near. You can visit those places by walk. This Hotel has three types of rooms. It has best Roof-top swimming pool & restaurant with awesome view of Lake Pichola. I have booked this hotel just for the view but it was perfect at all.
Note : This hotel is situated in busy area. Cabs/big vehicles cant go to the hotel as you have to pass through narrow-busy streets. There are many slops in this area.
We checked-in at hotel at 12 p.m. so we had half day to roam around. So we went to Gangaur Ghat. It was on walkable distance from our hotel. Best time to visit here is sunset. You can have beautiful clicks with flying pigeons & reflection of city in the water of Lake Pichola.
Bagore ki Haveli is famous for its Dharohar Folk Dance show. You can enjoy different traditional dances of Rajasthan. Its a must watch show.
Timing : 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Entry Ticket : INR 90/person and INR 150 for camera.
City Palace is a main attraction in Udaipur. We have visited it on day 02 morning.
Timing : 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Entry Fees : INR 300/person
We have visited here on day 2 in the evening. This lake is best at sunset. You can do boat ride here in sunset. Boating costs around INR 200/person. There are two types of boating available here. One is fast boat, it takes 3-4 minutes of fast ride with 4 person. Second is slow ride in which you can enjoy 30 minutes of slow ride in a big boat with 20-30 people.
There are many food stalls at this lake so you can have your dinner here.
This was our stay for the 3rd night. This hotel is also situated near lake pichola. This Zostel is a well known hostel chain all over India. We have booked private deluxe room with view of lake view. This hotel has sharing dorms also for solo travelers/backpackers. It is good for youngsters not recommended for family. It has rooftop restaurant.
This was our last place to visit in our trip. We have visited on day 3 in the evening. This is best for sunset time. We have rented two wheeler for this place (INR 300/day). It has scary though beautiful road on the hill to reach. You can see whole city from one side and Aravalli range from another side. Sunset from here is the main attraction.
So this was all about my weekend trip of Udaipur. The best time to visit Udaipur is winter and monsoon though we have visited in summer but environment was like monsoon. It rained at 2 nights and last night was just amazing. You can see!
