Jaipur is the capital city of Rajasthan and has the unique combination of ancient history and modern bustling city. Famously known as the Pink city, it has various architectural wonders.

Jaigarh Fort

Jaigarh Fort is around 45min drive from the city centre on a busy day. Built by Sawai Jai Singh II in 18th century, it still retains its structure. Jaigarh Fort also proudly hosts the world's largest cannon on the wheels - Jaiwan.

Road is good and you can take your car inside the fort. Two wheelers however needs to be parked inside the fort and then you can walk around the fort.

This fort is still a private property of the royal family of Jaipur. Jaigarh Fort also has a huge water reservoir which is still in use today.

If history intrigues you, do hire a guide and get lost into the history of the fort.

This fort is directly connected to Amber Palace through a tunnel and is still accessible. This was previously used by royal family for secret passage to the fort from the palace, incase of emergency.

Amber Palace

You can directly walk to Amber Palace from Jaigarh Fort . Otherwise , exit from Jaigarh Fort and take a vehicle to Amber Palace. There are 3 paid parking spots near the entry of palace.

Amber Palace is recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Site. This used to be the palace of Amer , before the new Jaipur city was established. The view of the palace is spectacular from outside , situated just beside Maota Lake.

The Sheesh Mahal of Amber palace is world famous and is probably one of the biggest and is one of its kind. The Turkish bath created ages back for the queen is absolutely amazing . Turkish inspired interior is also a must watch.

A day's visit to these two iconic locations in Jaipur will probably take you well inside the world of kings where you cannot help but imagine the grandeur during the peak time of their reign. There are some spots with amazing views and you can take a snap to stay with you forever.
