When we talk about Rajasthan, the first thing that comes to the mind is jaipur, it's capital city, vibrant in nature and cultural at heart, jaipur has it all.
I have been to jaipur in 2013 for the first time for a friends wedding and fell in love with it immediately, so when I had the opportunity to visit it again just few months back, I jumped with excitement. Jaipur is not an expensive city at all and tickets from mumbai costs just Rs. 4000 per person, if you book in advance. Local travel and food are cheap as well.
So here is a perfect itinerary for Jaipur in 2 days.
if you wanna have a real slice of jaipur, head to the old city or pink city as they call it, everything here is pink, the grand entry gate, each and every wall of each and every shop and house, etc.
City palace, hawa mahal, bapu bazaar everything is located over here. Both city palace and hawa mahal gets closed by 5pm so plan your day accordingly.
Evenings can be spent at the local markets such as bapu bazaar for some bandhani sarees, duppatas, etc, or johari bazaar for some exquisite silver jewellery. I particularly loved the variety of silver jwellery here, so do try it. Also jutti variety is to die for, if you like traditional footwear, just go for it, I bought 4 pairs myself.
After tiring out from shopping get high on local street food here, do try kachori, gol gappas, chaat, here, you will fall in love with the chaat wala bhaiya...
Next on the list is amer fort, so we started by 11am and on the way made a stop at albert Hall meuseum, and then headed to amer fort. It is a 1 hour drive to and from each, so plan accordingly. And it takes easily 2 hours to visit the entire fort. A quick tip, do try out chole kulche outside amer fort, it's mouth watering.
By the time you finish amer fort, it will be dinner time, so head to masala chowk, a food court, offering a variety of local cuisines, from daal baati churma, chaats, rajasthani thalis, noodles, fast food, and delicious desserts ranging from gulab jamuns, rabdi malpue, rasgulla, moong daal halwa etc.
