Day 1

We arrived at Udaipur on 9th of feb, all mesmerized by the enchanting beauty of the city. The best time to visit Udaipur is the winter season. So, the best months to visit the place are: Septmember, October, November, December, February and March.

The beautiful city greeted us as we arrived. We reached our hotel which we had booked near the City palace, took our time to freshen up and then went ahead for the city tour. It was a short trip and hence we had everything planned in advance so that we don't miss out on anything.

Talking about Udaipur, this city happens to be situated in the western Indian state of Rajasthan. The city was founded by Maharana Udai Singh II in the year 1559. You will find the city surrounded by a series of artificial lakes and is known for its lavish loyal residences.

Our first spot for the day was: The City Palace. It is located on the banka of Lake Pichola. This majestic palace is the most-visited tourist attraction of Udaipur. The palace has various towers, domes and arches, which certainly add to the flavor of this heritage site.

City Palace comprises of eleven wonderful palaces. All of these palaces were built by different rulers and yet they resemble each other. With the sheer glimpse of unique paintings, antique furniture and exquisite glass mirror & ornamental tiles work of these palaces, you will be amazed by the beauty of all of it.  Manak Mahal (Ruby Palace) has figures of crystal and porcelain. However, Bhim Vilas flaunts a fabulous collection of miniature paintings depicting the real life stories of Radha-Krishna.

"Jheel’s Ginger Coffee Bar, located in Gangaur Ghat, is among the best cafes in Udaipur, Rajasthan. It is small but lovely, and the nearby Lake Pichola adds to the attraction. The cafe has got comfortable seating arrangements, both indoor and outdoor. The large windows give an amazing scenic view of the lake. You just can’t miss the excellent coffee being served here. You can take your coffee mug to the rooftop as well if you wish. There is no alcohol being served here. The cheese toast and the range of cakes and snacks are simply delicious, including the caramel walnut and choco pie. It proves to be the best place for chocolate lovers. The cafe also offers refreshing ice tea, lemonade, and varieties of shakes that you just cannot miss."

We stayed in Udaipur for about 3-4 days and roamed around the streets of Udaipur and made multiple visits to the Udaipur Palace and the lakes. We enjoyed the interesting Rajasthani cuisine and also ate at the famous Dhabas and stalls.

We were here for the World Musical Fest (9th Feb- 11th Feb), about which I will talk now.

Starting from February 9, the City of Lakes played host to a large tribe of musicians and music fans at the World Music Fest, 2018. The vibe at the Udaipur world music fest is for sure to be infectious. From Shankar Ehsaan & Loy to the Catalan fusion band named Txarango, the place had enrapturing visitors with the choicest music to suit the culturally vibrant crowd at the event. Amongst the prominent performers, Bipul Chettri & the Travelling Band made their presence felt. The vibe at Bipul Chettri was intimate and celebratory due to the folk renditions from the East Indian hills, presented with a contemporary touch.

About 150 artists from more than 16 nations had joined the WORLD MUSIC FESTIVAL in Udaipur. WMF is where die-hard music fans and veterans assemble to celebrate music, and watch some of the the finest musicians LIVE and we surely witnessed all of it.

To say the least, it was a trip of a lifetime.
