Rajasthan is the first name that comes to my mind when it is winter season. Every winter I aim to cover a part of Rajasthan and this time it was "Udaipur".
Udaipur, also known as the City of Lakes, is the crown jewel of the state of Rajasthan. It is surrounded by the beautiful Aravalli Hills in all directions, making this city as lovely as it is. This 'Venice of the East' has an abundance of natural beauty, mesmerizing temples and breathtaking architecture which makes it a must-visit destination in India
We were a group of 3, all energized and geared up for this amazing trip that was about to start.
Mode of transport:
Bus: RS Yadav Travels which departed around 07:00 PM from Delhi and reached Udaipur around 07:00 AM next day.
The quality of the bus was really good and the cost was around 1150rs.
Accommodation:
Go stops Udaipur- This is one of the most famous chain of hostels. It was very colorful, lively, positive vibe place with beautiful view. The ambience is nice, staff is super helpful and friendly
It is near to Pichola lake. If you are travelling with your friends, I would recommend you to stay here.
This is not recommended for the family.
Note:
I would recommend you to hire the scooty in Udaipur as there are some spots which are located amidst the interior of the city else you might face the parking challenge.
You can check with your hotel for the scooty rentals. During the peak season it is around 500-600 per day.
Places to visit:
Lake Pichola:
The oldest and one of the largest lakes of Udaipur, Lake Pichola is enveloped by lofty Palaces, temples, bathing ghats and elevated hills on all its sides.
You can find many eateries there and also can get a good picture in Rajasthani dress. A visit to the Lake Pichola is incomplete without a boat ride, especially in the dawn. During evenings, it seems the entire place has been dipped in gold as you can see the heritage buildings and the pristine water turning golden with the sun's reflection
Price details:
Boat Ride:
400rs for Adults
200rs for Children
Sunset Boat Ride :
700rs for Adults
400rs for Children
City Palace:
One of the best architectural marvels in the state of Rajasthan, the City Palace in Udaipur is located on the banks of Lake Pichola. I would recommend to hire the scooty there instead of car as this is located amidst the city.
There is an entery fee of 30rs for the adults and 15rs for the children.
Fateh Sagar Lake:
Fateh Sagar Lake, placed in the city of Udaipur in Rajasthan, is an artificial lake named after Maharana Fateh Singh of Udaipur and Mewar and built to the north-west of Udaipur, located to the north of Lake Pichola, is one of the four lakes of the Udaipur city.
Sajjangarh Palace or Monsoon Palace:
This is located on the outskirts of Udaipur, at a hill top. Sajjangarh Palace is a former royal residence belonging to the Mewar dynasty, who ruled over this place for centuries
The view of the Udaipur city is eye catching from this spot. The drive to the monsoon palace from the city is also worth enjoying and has amazing scenic views for amazing clicks as well.
The Monsoon Palace is open seven days of the week from 8 AM in the morning to 6 PM in the evening.
The entry fee to the Monsoon Palace is INR 10 for an Indian and INR 80 for a foreigner individual. If you enter riding an auto rickshaw or a car, then you will have to pay INR 20 and INR 65 respectively.
Bagore ki Haveli:
One of the famous attractions of Udaipur, Bagore Ki Haveli is a haveli that stands magnificently on the waterfront of the surreal Lake Pichola at Gangori Ghat. You can get an amazing view of the Ghats in the evening.
Bagore ki haveli is a museum and famous for its Dance, Music and Puppet show in the evening. I spent an evening there and enjoyed the authentic, colorful, rich Rajasthani evening.
I would recommend you book your tickets in advance via Online system, else you might get stuck by standing in queue.
The Dharohar Dance Show Timings are from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm & the show tickets available from 6:15 pm. Better go early to take the ticket offline.
