When it comes to tourism or just finding some peace and quiet, there are some places that always deliver. You can visit them in the early morning or at dusk, in spring, autumn, winter, or monsoon – you name it. One thing's for sure: no matter the time or season, you're bound to experience something magical. And guess what? This blog is all about one of those timeless places: Shaharkot - Udaipur City Wall.
Situated in southern Rajasthan, Udaipur is renowned for its unparalleled beauty, encompassing both natural wonders and stunning architecture. Known as the City of Lakes, its serene lakes, majestic palaces, and vibrant culture attract visitors from far and wide.
Now, let's zoom back in on one particular gem: The City Wall. This is nestled near the Karni Mata Temple on Machhla Magra Hill, offering visitors a breathtaking 360-degree view of the heavenly City of Lakes. From this vantage point, you can marvel at the intricate blend of nature and human ingenuity that defines Udaipur's landscape.
To get there, you've got two main options. One way is to take the ropeway. You'll need to head to Manshapurn Karni Mata Ropeway Udaipur first, then hop on the ropeway up to Karni Mata Temple. The other way is to go trekking from Karni Mata Temple Hike Start Point. It's about a 500-meter or so trek to the hilltop. Both methods offer their own adventure. By the way, the starting points for the ropeway and trekking aren't too far from the city railway station and Rajasthan roadways bus stand. But since there's no public transportation available for this route, you'll need to grab a cab or auto-rickshaw to arrive at either of the starting point.
When you reach the top, you'll be blown away by the breath taking views of Udaipur city. On one side of the wall, you'll see iconic landmarks like City Palace Udaipur, Sajjangarh Monsoon Palace in the distance, Pichhola Lake, Taj Lake Palace, Leela Palace, Lemon Tree Hotel, Jagmandir, Oberoi Udai Vilas and more. The list goes on and on! The other side offers lovely city views too. The sunset view over the lake is absolutely heavenly, but mornings are just as magical. During sunrise, you'll see all the luxury hotels around Lake Pichhola gleaming like gold in the sunlight. Honestly, it's hard to pick the best time to visit. It's probably best to go multiple times to experience it all – different lighting, different weather, different magic every time!
