Udaipur's charms lie in it's narrow byelanes leading to the more touristy landmarks. The colour of the textiles and handicrafts is something that stays with you. Beware of the intercity traffic- We were caught up in a traffic jam caused by an elephant ! Udaipur can be easily covered within a day or two. We stopped at the local market outside the City Palace and shopped for handmade wooden key chains, leather bound diaries and earrings for a good bargain.
We spent not more than Rs.7000 to be divided among 5 people.
Each artifact has a story to tell. Brilliant for those with patience, for fast trackers the monotony builds on after a while. The entrance fee without a tour guide was approx. Rs.680 (5 people) with the use of a camera
A beautiful drive through a natural reserve. The monsoon palace is situated atop a hill. I highly recommend catching a view of the sunset. A beautiful end to the trip. Without a tour guide we spent approx. Rs. 450 on the entrance ticket along with the car entrance fee.
A serene lake where one can engage in boating activities. You can find a multitude of snacking options on the banks of the lake.
Didn't really see much of the island. Traveled with a bunch of impatient travelers. Nevertheless, wouldn't trade my company for the world.
We stopped for breakfast on the highway itself at this decent dhaba like place. Lunch was at a tiny restaurant overlooking the Lake Pichola. Brilliant view, decent food coupled with lovely company. For dinner we stopped at a restaurant right outside Udaipur towards Ahmedabad. Our total expenditure on food for the trip was approx. Rs. 2700 (5 people)
