Memories are like a box of sweets....once it opens then you can't eat just one piece. Sipping down the hot kulhad coffee while getting mesmerized by the settling sun. This dream did come true at Fatehsagar Lake in Udaipur. Truly the 'Venice of the East', Udaipur gives you a million of memories to be cherished upon that you carry back home no matter how many times you visit this place! Udaipur is a perfect blend of nature and royalty.

The route:

Finally it was 14.12.2019, the day which I had been waiting since a long time. I left Delhi to start the bus 660 kms bus journey all decked up with backpack, slings, trolley and of course with lots of excitement in my heart. Finally I reached and as told by the bus staff that bus was white in color, I could spot the bus and thus finally boarded it at 5:30 p.m. I kept all my luggage on my seat including the trolley as the bus conductor showed procrastination to keep that trolley in the luggage compartment. As it was my first experience of sleeper bus, I noticed the interior of my seat compartment. It consisted of the following:

1. TV

2. 1 Charging Point

3. 1 Shoe pouch

4. Reading light

5. 1 Black Cushion Pillow

6. Brown seat

It was a nice cozy seat. I was busy in adjusting to the seat.I was trying to sleep in that little cozy compartment while thinking of Udaipur. I could only take a nap and started checking on the Maps as to how much more time is left to reach Udaipur. I started this at 4:00 a.m. and was checking after every 15-20 minutes. Finally, it was around 5:30 a.m. that the bus stopped at the second rest stop for 15 minutes. I reached Udaipur at 6:30 a.m. The bus dropped us at Paras circle before time. All thanks to the take off skills of the Driver Bhaiya. I was really impressed and the bus took 12 hours to reach Udaipur.

Thus it was a roller coaster ride full of millions of memories.

The Arrival:

On reaching Udaipur, it took me few minutes to finally realize that ‘I made it to Udaipur’. Since it was 6:30 a.m. I was pretty sure that going to hostel would be a bad idea at this hour so I decided to first go to Lake Pichola followed by hostel. It was 2.5 kms from bus stand. I decided to go on foot to lake but the GPS showed it would take 25 minutes to reach there. So I dropped this idea and started looking for the auto. I asked one autowala who charged a decent 80 bucks. On the way to lake, I realized that it was definitely a long route. He dropped me at the lake Pichola.

The list of places over the span of my stay at Udaipur:

The boats all lined up, the blue water with the crystal clear bouncy waves, the low lying hills fading away in the cold winters and the palaces located on the banks of the lake……EVERYTHING WAS JUST PERFECT!!

One could spot people doing morning walk and sitting on the benches. Some were playing badminton and even cycling. It was a part of their daily routine. It seemed the part of their daily routine. As I was walking around, I could see many white arches and their reflection in the lake adding beauty to the place. The sunrays hitting my face made me so warm that i nearly forgot the tiredness of the trip.

Listening to the chaos of the city and silence of the palace.

One of the most important tourist attraction in Udaipur is the City Palace. . The palace is magnificent, lavish and beautiful. It depicts the history of Maharna Pratap. There are also famous glasses of Mahatma Gandhi from U.K. which were kept preserved in the case. From the small arches, one can get the amazing view of Udaipur city. There are artefacts displayed in the premises. It is a beautiful example of world class architecture.

These blue rooms are the best sight in the City Palace.

Udaipur has an old market selling artefacts, souvenirs, paintings, dresses, and much more. It is a bustling street with the tourists. There are havelis turned into cafes which showcase the Rajasthan tradition and one can dine in typical Rajasthani style. There are vibrant walls of the houses that are painted with the variety of colours. The old city can be explored on the foot while enjoying the local culture and authentic food of Rajasthan. The local transport in Udaipur has a very good network. I met many autowalas who were very cooperative. One of them dropped me to Rajwadi Art Museum shop when i told him that i want to buy Rajasthani razai. He charged the decent fare and dropped me to the another market which was called Bapu Bazar. The market was very much crowded. Udaipur gives you the push that you need to rejuvenate yourself.

UDAIPUR:A BEAUTIFUL ENCOUNTER WITH VIBRANT COLOURS!
