Day 2 in Jaipur✨– Started off from the hotel at 9 AM.
The itinerary for Day 2 was the following –
Nahargarh Fort, Jaigarh Fort, Jal Mahal, Panna Meena ka Kund, Amber Fort, and Sound & Light Show at Amber Fort.
The places were grouped in a specific manner due to the distance between each of them. I had also covered the places in the same order mentioned, keeping in mind their opening, closing, and lunch breaks.
🔰Before Lunch – Nahargarh Fort, Jaigarh Fort, Jal Mahal
If you start from the Jaipur City, you would be crossing Jal Mahal on the way and back from Nahargarh, Jaigarh Fort, and Amber Fort - on the Amer Road
🔰Post Lunch – Panna Meena ka Kund, Amber Fort, Sound & Light Show at Amber Fort.
The reason for having Amer Fort in the post-lunch plan was to enjoy the famous Sound & Light Show at Amber Fort.
You would definitely need an auto/taxi to cover the whole schedule.
Nahargarh Fort
Timings - 10 AM to 10 PM, All Days
The palace was initially built as a vacation house for the royal family, as it hosts a grandeur look of Jaipur City. Was used by Britishers in the later period.
It has suite-sized rooms, for the king and his 12 queens, which are further separated as 9 quarters, each having a lobby, kitchen, and a storehouse. The queen's apartments were identical, and the king’s was unique from them.
In the later time, the Jaipur Government used it for solar time reading - complementing the same with Jantar Mantar - with the help of a gunshot💥fired as a time signal.
Jaigarh Fort
Timings - 10 AM to 5 PM, All Days
Lies between the Nahargarh and Amer Forts. Served as the residence of many kings and was used as a weapon storage house. It was said to be the cannon foundry of the Mughal rulers, due to the vicinity to iron ore mines. It houses the world’s largest cannon on wheels, known as ‘Jaivana Cannon’.

The fort was designed by the famous architect Vidyadhar - in whose memory the king built a garden in Jaipur.
Jal Mahal
Timings - Open 24 Hours - As you cannot enter the structure and can only walk around the lake.
Known for its artistic elements and was used for the Royal Duck Shooting Competition. The main structure floats in the center of the Sagar Lake. Visitors are not allowed inside the structure, due to some pending legal issues - but it is photo-friendly from the outside. Try to have a look at it - both day and night times.
Panna Meena ka Kund
Timings - 7 AM to 6 PM
A stepwell structure was used in the earlier time. There isn’t a proper history of the same. But most of them say that it was built by and for the Meena tribe who dominated in the Amer region.
Not really a tourist location, but can give it a 10-15 minute visit for its architecture having a criss-cross steps pattern.
Amber Fort
Timings - 8 AM to 5.30 PM and 6.30 PM to 9.15 PM
(Amber Fort is also called Amber Palace/Amer Fort/Amer Palace)
Amer Palace is built using red sandstone and marble, which will be evident when you visit the structure. It hosts prominent buildings such as Diwan-i-Aam (for public gatherings), and Diwan-i-Khaz (for royal gatherings).
It has tunnels that lead to both Nahargarh and Jaigarh Forts. The fort also overlooks the Maota Lake, which is the water source for the palace. One of the must-visit places of Jaipur. Looks scenic at the time of sunset.📸
Amber Fort - Sound & Light Show
One more important element to not miss is the Sound & Light Show of the Amer Fort. It is one of the best light shows among many which happen all over India.
Timings for Sound & Light Show -
October to February - 6:30 PM (English) / 7:30 PM (Hindi)
March to April – 7:00 PM (English) / 8:00 PM (Hindi)
May to September – 7:30 PM (English) / 8:30 PM (Hindi)
Night Walk
Try to go on for a night walk in the walled fortress area (Pink City), after the lights are turned on to get a pleasant and charming look of the pinkish hue💖along with some street food and to purchase some local handicrafts.
As far as I saw, the whole city settles down by 10 PM, and not much of night activities can be seen. So, try to wrap your schedules by that time.
Transport
There are ample transport options available in Jaipur City from autos, e-rickshaws, taxis, bike taxis, and buses, to metros inside the city. There are also private taxi options under package rates and per trip basis plans.
Food
The Rajasthani-style food is one of the must-try if you are visiting Jaipur City. Dal Bathi Churma, Ghevar, and Kulfi are some of them. You have restaurants at every level of the budget as you wish. Still, most of the street shops are nice to taste, as I had personally tasted most of them near Hawa Mahal.
Budget
The planned upper bound for the whole trip was around Rs. 8000.
The budget described below indicates all the expenses recorded.
P.S. Mine was a solo trip, and I prefer to try street food rather than trying out grand restaurants on my trip. My accommodation was in a backpacker hostel too. So, this brought down my budget.
Accordingly, tweak your budgets here and there for your trips.
After all the chaos and walks, the trip finally came to an end. I returned to Delhi the next day morning.
