Day 1

If you want to experience that one place in the entire world where you can find colors in melancholy, people in uninhabited and beauty in far extreme extension then welcome to the THAR DESERT.
The Thar Desert aka The Great Indian Desert is the large arid region in the Northwestern part of India. Stretching from Sutlej river, it is surrounded by Great Rann of kutch, the Aravali ranges and by Indus river. Extended over 200,000 km² the Thar covers almost 170,000 km² of Indian State Rajasthan and serves as a natural boundary between Indian subcontinent and Pakistan. The thar desert is the 17th largest desert of the whole entire world and 9th largest subtropical desert.
It has a rich desert culture including Desert foods, desert folks, desert language and obviously the beguiling Sand dunes.
The uninhabited is puzzlingly inhibited by many Gypsies, Bishnois, Bhils, Meenas, Lohars, Garasians, shariyas and Rabaris who live in the desert villages of Khori, Kanoi, Sattasar and the nearby sand dunes of the cities.
The Thar is home to many endangered and unique wild animals like desert scorpions, mongoose, red fox, Indian Wild Ass, wolf, desert foxes, blue bulls, caracal and Black bucks.
The Black bucks are one of the most endangered animals which are often worshipped by the Bishnois.
The Thar desert consists of many desert cities like Jodhpur, Bikaner, Jaisalmer etc. Out of which Jaisalmer alsko known as the Golden City because of the stretched golden desert is considered as the "Jewel of Thar".
The city of Jaisalmer is famous for its magnificent forts, adventurous camel safari, golden sand dunes and amazingly wonderful, unique and colorful culture.
The Jaisalmer fort is one of the oldest living fort of India that is so exquisite that it can trap you in its splendour. The city offers both jeep and camel safaris but as a traveler I will personally recommend the camel safari. As it will give you the traditional as well as a exclusive and distinct experience. They are cheaper and show you around the desert city.
If you're planning to stay there at night you better try it out in some Tent City. Jaisalmer has numerous tent cities although they are expensive than the real hotels but trust me the experience is rare and beautiful.
Coming to the food delicacy, Jaisalmer has lot to offer but MUTTON SAAG tops the list. It is mutton mixed in the puree of spinach alongwith unique Rajasthani Spices. If you're a non vegetarian exploring Jaisalmer then this can be the best part of your entire itinerary.
The Rajasthan tourism organises Desert fair and festival every year in winter mostly in the month of February. The event is full of folk performers, snake charmers, puppeteers, arts and crafts. It is also something that you all will relish.
Best time to visit: Rajasthan can be comfortable in winters. So November to February is ideal time in which the month of December is the most suitable one as the temperature doesn't exceeds 24°C.
How to reach: The nearest domestic airport is Jodhpur Airport after that you can take taxi or bus that will take approximately 5 to 6 hours to reach Jaisalmer.
There are also regular buses and trains.
