Art and Architecture are the only two aspects of this whole world, which can spread positive vibes out of damage, tragedy, and sadness too. One such example exists in the form of a monument in the capital city of Rajasthan, Jaipur. The pink city is full of surprises which are even huge too. The Palaces of Jaipur, make a person drop their jaws off with their gorgeous structures. Surely, Jal Mahal is one of them and it is way more unique than any other palace in Rajasthan because it is submerged but still looks amazingly beautiful.

Unfortunately, visitors are not allowed to witness the inner beauty of this Mahal. A person can only see the topmost floor of the Palace because the remaining four floors get submerged in water if the Man Sagar lake is full. As I have visited in January, the water was kind of full and not dried up. Hence, I could only see the fifth floor of the Palace and I just fell in love with the mirror image of the Mahal on the water of the lake.

The Palace construction has happened in a very different way. This ancient palace got abandoned for more than 2oo years, constructed by a Maharajah who ruled Amer in the 16th century. This palace is 6 km away from Amer and also 6 km away from Jaipur city too. Which means, this palace acts as the center of attraction in the pink city. Surrounded by the Aravalli hill range, this palace used to give a scenic view Nahargarh mountain abode from its terrace. But, even after it got renovated recently, the terrace is still under work it seems because it got damaged deeply.

The formation of Man Sagar Lake has happened because of the construction of a dam between the mountain range of Nahargarh. Hence, the four floors of this Palace got submerged in the 18th century. Since, then, Maharajas of Jaipur and Amer, has been making too many renovations and redesigning activities to restore the beauty of this Palace. Even today, the government of Rajasthan, investing money in protecting this abandoned palace.

The twist is, this Palace became even more beautiful than before because of the Man Sagar Lake. This lake adds extra flavor to this palace. Tourists get attracted to its mirror image on the water of the lake. Previously, this Palace used as a relaxation and a hunting hub for the kings of Jaipur. All the Maharajas and princes used to shoot ducks and many other birds in this lake.

This lake is so special because it acts as a hub for the migratory birds. You can find ducks, coots, flamingos and many more migratory birds that look scenic in winters. In the night times, this Palace looks stunning enough. But, I visited in the late afternoon post-lunch on my birthday. It was still beautiful though.

The shades of the trees around the long road of Jal Mahal, the coolness of the water of Man Sagar Lake, the swimming ducks in the lake, the sunshine on the Rajput and Mughal style blended architecture of Jal Mahal, the black mountain range, the hush-hush of people who were shopping from the vendors on the road of Jal Mahal, the tourists roaming here and there, everything was so ravishing and bewitching. I stood there for a while and clicked a few pictures. I found only one thing worse over here.

The waste and the garbage at the edges of the lake. This specified that because of modernity, people are less concerned about the atmosphere and they were ruining the environment, especially the name and fame of Jal Mahal. Considered as one of the most unique monuments in India, it needs to be well maintained and managed. The government is doing its job of decorating and renovating, but people should bring a change by not littering waste in the lake.

The water in this lake became one of the biggest water sources for the people of Amer and Jaipur. And the main reason behind the construction of the dam was the famine faced by the people in those centuries. This lake and the Mahal once played a very important role in history and they are still attracting a lot of visitors around the globe, which means they are still ruling the hearts of people.

The visitors are not allowed in the Palace but they can hire a beautiful boat and can explore the lake. But according to the season, the visiting rules and times get change. But the market on the road which connects to the Jal Mahal Palace always keeps entertaining the visitors. Here, you can find clothing, footwear, signature Rajasthani articles, arts, crafts, paintings, and even food too. The main road also looks amazing with various hotels, restaurants and various government and defense buildings that look like replicas of Palaces. As it is in the center of the city, you can visit Jal Mahal when you plan to Visit Amer or Nahargarh fort or Jaygarh fort. Altogether, every person must visit this place. So, add this Palace also to your dream traveling destinations in Jaipur. You will never regret it, even though you can't be able to check out the interiors of the Palace. The exterior of the Palace and the lake is enough to take your breath away!
