I did a solo trip to Rajasthan covering Jaipur, Udaipur, Jodhpur and Jaisalmer City. I spent around 12 days (29th June'16 to 10th July'16) in Rajasthan.
I started my journey from Mumbai. First I visited Jaipur which is the capital city of Rajasthan, also known as the "Pink City".

Places to visit: 1) Amer Fort: It is the most beautiful part of the city. Located on the outskirts, it is around 11km from the main city. It has a blend of the Rajput and the Mughal architecture. There is the Shila Mata Temple of the patron Goddess of the royal family, inside the fort. The best time to visit this place is in the evening. After sunset, there is an amazing light show inside of the fort.
2) City Palace: It is located in the heart of the old Jaipur city. There are 3 museums where we see royal textile, armor and paintings.
3) Jantar Mantar: It's an open air astronomical observatory right next to the City Palace. It has several instruments to measure local time, the altitude of star and constellations, sun's declination, meridian, altitude and to determine eclipses. The Samrat Yantra is the biggest sundial on the earth and it shows the exact local time. Travelers must hire a guide to understand the working of these instruments.
There are also other places which I visited - Hawa Mahal, Old Market, Jain Temple, Albert Hall and Central Park.
Then I took the train from Jaipur to Udaipur which took around 7-8 hours. Udaipur is also known as the "City of Lakes". It is one of the most romantic cities in India. Udaipur is well surrounded by Aravali mountain ranges. This city is a perfect blend of nature and history.
Places to Visit: 1) City Palace: It's a white edifice banked on the lake Pichola. It is built by Udai Singh and his predecessors.
2) Ambrai Restaurant: It is located exactly opposite to the City Palace across lake Pichola. This restaurant gives a mesmerizing view of the lake and the fort.
3) Karni Mata Temple: This temple is located in the middle of the city and on the top of the hill. We can reach the top either by ropeway or walkway. From the peak we get the top-view of the entire city.
There are other places I visited like Gangapur Ghat, Jagdish Temple, Dudh Talai, Fatehsagar Lake, Sajjan Garh, Biological Park, Sahiliyon Ki Bari, Nimach Mata Temple.
From Udaipur I took a Volvo bus to Jodhpur, it took around 3-4 hours. Jodhpur is also known as the "Blue City".
Places to Visit: 1) Mehrangarh Fort: This was the most awaited place to visit during my trip. This is the fort where the scene of Batman rising from the pit in the movie "Dark Knight Rises" was shot.
The are other places I visited were Clock Tower, Umaid Bhavan and Mandore Gardens.
I took a train from Jodhpur to Jaisalmer, it took around 6-7 hours. Jaisalmer city is also known as the "Golden City". It is reminiscent of the cartoon character, Alladin :)
Places to Visit: 1) City Fort: This is the only fort in India where even today ordinary people live. One must take a walk in the fort before 9 AM in the morning. Because at that time the city is still in sleep mode and walking alone on narrow streets is so good that we can sense the positive vibration in the environment.
There are other places which I visited - City Palace, Jain Temple, Gadisar Lake, Patwa Haveli.
One must take a Kuri Desert Safari for one day :) I bet that will be the best desert experience you will ever have!!
PS: Don't miss Kuldhara (Abandoned) Village which is near Jaisalmer.
