Ever since I started trekking, the one thing I always wanted to do was snow trek. I’m the person who wanted to explore the untouched places with less crowd. As I was thinking, my friend suggested me a place where there is no human trace visible. I wondered if there could be a place like this where the hills are traversed with heavy thick layers of greenery and from the mid journey showing a thickest layer of snow, allowing people to plough through that.

So, before the journey I boarded the bus and was thinking about three places where to drop by and decided to go to Bhun Bhuni trek. That was my first snow trek. No words to put down for describing my anxiety to reach there soon. I started on Friday evening and reached kasol at 11 am. After a quick freshening I visited an apple farm where I plucked 20 apples and started trekking into a dense forest.

My co-trekkers

There’s was a saying that when a person who has not seen something, they wanted to see but one day when they see it, they go to a trans where they couldn’t discern the reality and a dream. Exactly it happened to me. As soon as the beautiful trail with fall leaves goes away a small valley with green grass and thin layer of snow has started. Man! That was the most beautiful view. I felt that my idea to trek to this hill was the finest decision. I’ve been to snow places more than 12 times but trust me when I say it was no where to my thoughts, it was not. The mud area has suddenly transferred into snow layer. The more I was trekking on to the top, the more layers of snow were stretched over there. The following are the pictures of the view and the layers of the snow bed.

After travelling to rajasthan. I thought the brightest sun can be found only in rajasthan. I was wrong. As the peak ascends, I felt strong sun rays on my face. I clicked some pictures with the sun. After trekking for 2 hours, on the way we heard the bear roaring. Initially, I was scared but when I came to know the trick to not get caught by bear pacified me. The way was the heaven. There was heavy snow all the way and I could find not a single human. I found some frozen lakes, delightful sceneries all the way. The soothing sunset had made my effort looks like an atom.

I could have easily gotten breathing problem had I not got fit before my trek. The altitude increases and snow density surges, and one would not feel comfortable to walk further. But I managed to mover further. I got fit by running 5 kms a day before this trek. All the apples I plucked down the hill were completed on the way. After a couple of breaks, we reached a place (it’s a shepherd abandon place which was used for the animals) where we found a hut and thought of staying for the night and made out tents in that hut.

All the water there was frozen. So, we decided to put the fire and our guide has made fire with the help of magic wood. This is the best feeling in my life – cooking on the top of the snow hill with the firewood with freezing temperatures outside under the stars, full moon and a thick layer of snow. That is all needed for me. I prepare veg pulao and tea for al of us with the help of snow.

That was the perfect dinner. I happened to meet mules (cross breed of horses and donkeys) who stayed there all-night eating grass under the thick snow cover. We called it a day and on the next day early morning, we started trekking to the top of the bhun bhuni trek called as bhunbhuni point. That is the highest peak and I found the remains of old houses covered with some feet snow. After spending some time there, we started trekking back to the tent. On the way I met some of the coolest friends. They were there till we reached our hut back. They were wild dogs. After all, dogs are god made human best friends.

We reached the tents, after breakfast we shot some videos and enjoyed sometime outside and then we started trekking down the hill. All the way along we had our four-legged friends with us. It was cuch a relief. I slipped twice on the way back even though I wore snowshoes. I realized that during a snow trek, going down and climbing to the top of the hill takes same effort unlike a normal trek where climbing to the top takes less effort compared to reach down the hill.

I found trees which were stunningly beautiful with the fall colors and I captured them. I wanted to treasure that time. And reached kalga around 4 pm and started back at 430 from barshaini to Mandi. But I got a direct bus to Delhi and reached at 730 am the next day.
