No introduction is needed for Rajasthan. It is a colorful, vibrant and grandeur state in India which is on most travelers wish list. Rajasthan is all about the Maharajahs and their rich culture, royal attire, authentic cuisine, magnificent forts, lavish palaces and fabulous stories of their life and family.

We had Rajasthan on our list for long. We tried to include everything possible in the 7 days trip to Royal Rajasthan. We loved Rajasthan for many reason and absolutely fell in love with the amazing culture, beautiful architectures and delicious cuisines.

The Story of Our Journey

Durg (Chhattisgarh) - Udaipur - Jodhpur - Jaisalmer - Jaipur - Puskar- Durg

Udaipur , the former capital of Mewar kingdom, nestled besides the stunning Lake Pichola with the sprawling backdrop of Aravalli range , is all about the countless and bustling narrow streets, colorful and vibrant bazaars , delicious and mouthwatering street food , beautiful paintings by local artists, boutique havelis for stay and more.

How to reach - Udaipur is well connected with all cities of Rajasthan via Bus or Trains. The city has Airport with direct flights from Delhi, Jaipur and other major cities in India.

Where we stayed - Booked a Family room at Panorama guest house, Udaipur

Jodhpur - popular for its blue colors all over the old city and a gateway to Thar desert of Rajasthan is all about the narrow blue streets, iconic Mehrangarh fort, delicious Makhani lassi and more. We planned and explore the city for 2 days. We hired taxi via our guesthouse.

Top things to do when you are in Jodhpur -

|1| Spend half a day at the majestic and huge Meherangarh Fort. |2| Stop by the white marble cenotaph Jaswant Thada |3| Visit the home of Jodhpur royal family Umaid Bhavan Palace |4| Watch people Jumping into water from Toorji ka jhalra (Stepwell) |5| Go shopping at Clock Tower and Sardar Market |6| Don't skip the abandoned Mandore Gardens |7| Walk around the blue city and capture the moments |8| Watch Sunset from Purn Haveli Rooftop. |9| Have a glass of Makhani Lassi from any sweet shop (all delicious)

How to reach - We took a 4 hour bus ride from Udaipur to Jodhpur - one of the best way to reach Jodhpur to/from Udaipur. If you are coming from other parts of India, Jodhpur is well connected via Bus/Trains/Flights.

Jaisalmer -the golden city of India known for huge fort nestled in the center of the city, many spectacular and stunning Havelis, famous Sand dunes in a few hours drive, colorful and vibrant markets , popular Camel safari in the middle of Thar desert and more. We planned and explore Jaisalmer for two days. Day 1 - Jaisalmer City and Day 2 - Sam sand dunes night stay

|1| Explore the magnificent Jaisalmer Fort |2| Visit Jain temple inside the fort |3| Go on shopping spree inside the fort |4| Hire a cab for a day and visit Natmal ki Haveli, Patwon ki Haveli, Salim Singh ki Haveli and Gadisar lake |5| Book a resort in Sam Sand dunes and spend a night |6| Enjoy the Rajasthani cuisine and folk dance while staying in the resort |7| Get an adrenaline rush on a Jeep safari in the middle of Thar Desert during sunset |8| Ride Camel safari in the morning/evening to watch beautiful sunrise/sunset. |9| Take a day trip near Indo-Pak border to Longewala and Tanot Mata temple.

How to reach - We booked train from Jodhpur to Jaisalmer (overnight journey). If you are coming from other parts of India, Jodhpur is well connected via Bus or Trains. The nearest airport for Jaisalmer is Jodhpur Airport.

Where we stayed - Payal Safari camp, Sam Sand Dunes

Jaipur, the pink city as everyone calls it, is a capital city of Rajasthan and a historic splendor. The city is famous for many beautiful architectures which tell stories about its past . We planned and explored the city for 2 days - hired a cab to roam around the city.

How to reach - We booked train from Jaisalmer to Jaipur which took around 10 hours. If you are coming from other parts of India, Jaipur is well connected via Bus/Trains /Flights.

Where we stayed - Rawla Mrignayani Palace, Jaipur

We took a day trip to Pushkar from Jaipur. The lake at Pushkar has incredible religious importance . The lake is considered scared where Hindu scriptures describe it as "Tirtha-Guru" - relating it to the mythology of the creator-god Brahma, whose most famous temple stands in Pushkar. Plan your visit during Karthik Purnima (Oct/Nov) when most popular Camel Fair is held.
