Neemrana Baori:
Neemrana baori is a subterranean man-made stepwell, regionally known as baori, baoli, bawadi, and vav. It’s a unique type of water-harvesting structure, thousands of which were built throughout India starting around 600 CE. They were perhaps the most significant and multi-functional buildings of their day, primarily providing water year-round. Marvels of architecture, engineering, and art, stepwells guaranteed access to the precious resource but at Neemrana, the groundwater was buried so deeply underground that nearly 200 steps were required to reach it during dry seasons. When the monsoons arrive, the water level rose, the steps submerged, and the cycle of dramatic fluctuation repeated. Though it is the largest and deepest stepwell in India, the beholder will fail to resist the magnificence of this structure.
Companies & Industry:
The Rajasthan government, through Rajasthan Industrial Cooperation RIICO, has developed industrial zones in various stages in Neemrana in Alwar district in the past several years. Apart from the usual industrial areas, the Export Promotion Industrial Park (EPIP) and the Japanese Industrial Zone in Majra Kath are particularly noteworthy. Companies from India and abroad have set up their units in these industrial areas and many more new industries are arriving, creating new employment opportunities. The Japanese industrial zone developed by RIICO is an extension of a previously existing industrial zone. The Korean Zone is also coming up the silver wood township.
