The heat these days in Chennai makes me reminisce one of my cosy winter vacays a couple of years ago.
In 2017 November,  I went on a trip with my college girls to Mount Abu. Mount Abu for the uninitiated is a hill station in the Sirohi district of Rajasthan State (my native). It used to be a very popular tourist town back in the 90's and you might have heard about it from your parents and friends, but it had fallen down the rungs of a tourist destination over the years as newer ones came about.
But the moment we landed we discovered that the place still holds its charm of an eye- catching destination; home to green forests, undulating hills, lakes and some gorgeous waterfalls.  Mount Abu is also famous as a sacred place for Jains, and Dilwara temple is the most famous temple there.
We started our journey from Ahmedabad, and travelled to Mount Abu by train.

Day 1

On Day 1 we visited the holy temples - Dilwara Temple, Gurushikar peak and Achalgarh fort. To know about the place and it's history we hired a local tourist guide who told us about the culture and the history of the place. All our local commuting was done in buses.
Being a Marwari, I really wanted to feel the vibe and culture of the place, and that's when my friends and I dolled up wearing the Ghaghra Choli at the Dilwara temple....it was so much fun. Sadly,
since the trip was 4 years ago,
I have lost some of the pictures  :( thankfully I still have some special ones. :)

Day 2

On Day 2, we indulged ourselves to some  local treats. We had so much fun shopping in the local market, famous for its bandhni and lehri dupattas. We trekked all the way up to the Sunset Point too. And, once the temperature dropped we could not resist stepping out at night craving for some desserts...and went ahead and tasted some matka rabdi.  It was the best part of the trip. I miss the cosy cold weather and the taste of the delicious rabdi.
One of my long pending list, Mount Abu lived up to all the expectations I had from the place! ^_^
