Longewala Border Visit

Longewala - the land of victory has always been on my list since my childhood days after watching ‘Border’ movie. So finally after so many years, i was super excited to visit this battlefield on my jaisalmer trip this year. The route starts from the golden city of jaisalmer, passes through famous dunes, vast landscapes, long stretches of road passing through the remote and tiny villages and trust me it is one of best route i have covered so far.

We covered this run of around 130km on local hired car and it was so much breathtaking driving into the famous Thar desert that i didn’t close my eyes for even a second. Afterall that stories belong to the land of victory was to be witnessed.

History behind this battlefield- In 1971, our neighbors, pakistan army tried to invade our border through this post. Without much ammunition, around 120 jawans of 23rd battalion,Punjab regiment, held the post entire night until reinforced the next day, sacrificing their life in order to protect our motherland. Salute to our Indian Armed Forces.
