It all started when I got a call from my ol’ college buddies on one of the last nights of the year 2015 and they were like, “ Brother we’ve heard so much of it from you in last 4 years, and we are on our way to explore Rajasthan.” I saw this as an opportunity to take them to my all time favorite spots in Jaipur.

It is one of the best kept secrets of the city of Amer since 17th century and has been the primary source of water for the adjoining forts of Amer and Jaigarh as well as the city of Amer and its people. It is tucked away beyond the Kheri Gate and was built during the reign of Raja Man Singh. The sunrise at sagar turns the mud plastered walls of Amer into a golden labyrinth waiting to be explored.

Capturing that wandering gray langur enjoying the early morning view of series of fortifications and admiring the defensive territorial beauty of Jaigarh fort made sure that it was worth getting up on that cold morning of December.

The next day we had to bounce off to the city of Nagaur which was near to small hamlet on the border of the Thar desert with the Khimsar Fort at its centre.

The fort is your hotel, restaurant and tourist attraction. Here, all you can do is sit back, relax, enjoy the solitude and spend some quality time with your friends. As night falls, lie back and watch the sky light up with a million stars like your city eyes have never seen. Admiring the stark beauty of Thar Desert was a new experience for me as well and staying in the Heritage of Khimsar Fort is reliving the graceful days of Indian royalty. The most fascinating part of this trip involves capturing all those light emitting objects surrounded by the magnificent dome architectures and the fusion of vibrant colours of Rajasthan in them.

Forts are fine. But what if you want to experience the beauty of living in a village in the desert, but without having to give up the creature comforts of modern life? Then head for the Dune Village. A camel cart will take you from the fort to the village. As you crest over a sand dune, an enchanting view of an oasis in the middle of thatched huts greets you. Sitting here, encircled by rising dunes of golden sand, it’s not strange to feel that you are part of an Arabian fantasy.

The shades of the Khimsar fort continued to linger on my mind as I experienced the last few days of 2015 spent in Rajasthan through my lens. Also, I’ve heard a lot about how vibrant the “Pushkar Mela” is; Moreover the colours, aura and the rural magic of that place fascinates me. I had always wanted to venture out in the sands of Pushkar and be a part of the famous sunrises at those serene and sacred temples of Brahma. I know there are still a lot of mesmerising parts of Rajasthan, which I haven’t checked out yet and I wish if I could travel to one of those places in future.

That's all folks!
