Day 1

Reached the Jaisalmer Jn at 6 am. Talked to various tours and travels for various packages.

As I have been to Jaisalmer twice before, I had in mind what i had to see. Every tour and travel was taking 7000 for a 4 seater cab for City Tour, Tanot mata, Longewala Post and Sam Sand Dunes (Jeep Safari, Camel Safari and Cultural Night) . As we found this costly, we thought of going to Hanuman Chowk taxi stand of jaisalmer. We found a driver, ‎+91 95870 64964, who said much less for the whole trip excluding Cultural Night.

We started by visiting Gadisar lake.

The next stop was Tanot Mata Mandir. If you visit Jaisalmer this is a must, 120km from Jaisalmer City. In the way you may stop at Bada Bagh.

Final Destination : Sam Sand Dunes

Sam Sand Dunes is 2 hour trip from Longewala Post.

The best part about Jaisalmer is the Thar Desert.

There are 3 things you can do in Sam.

1. Jeep Safari : I consider this as the best. Riding with speed in the desert up and down on an open jeep, is a thrill which will be a unique experience.

2. Camel Safari : Riding a camel would be a great experience, if you are daring enough you could race them, but beware it is pretty overwhelming.

3. Cultural Night : This is for people from outside Rajasthan and/or families not friends. For a group of friends, one can rent a tent for the night, enjoy bon fire and the cold breeze of Thar at night.

Reached Jaisalmer Jn. back at 9pm. If you enjoy the cultural night with food you can reach back by 11:30 pm.

A good dinner spot is the food plaza restaurant, you can get the Rajasthani cuisine (Ker Sangri) for around 200 rs/-.
