Hello every one, this is little late for me to share the travel experience for the 2015 trip. Me and my family enjoy travelling. Experiencing various cultures, enjoying different foods and almost everything in that place really interests us. We visited rajasthan way back when i was very small and saw udaipur, mount abu, dilwara temples which i hardly remember and so decided to go again but to different places.
We booked a package called "desert triangle" which had jaisalmer, bikaner, jodhpur on the list. Jaipur was an addition. The trip altogether was just plain happy go trip, no adventures.Just to warn you, enquire about the hotels for stay from the package dealer priorly and cross check, might end up with an unpleasant stay or else.
First place, Amazing is the word and my favorite. All buildings were built in yellow stone. The total city glows brilliantly like gold in the sun hence the name "golden city".No need to search for good food, great tasty vegetarian food is found through out rajasthan. Places to visit are "Jaisalmer fort", takes an hour or so to completely exlpore the fort."Patwon ki haveli" another awesome architectural treat to the eyes.Walk through the streets to see the actual jaisalmer."Sam sand dunes" jaisalmer to have the best desert experience, where we stayed one night in the camps, camel ride into the desert, watching sunset, then comes the fun part where we got to experience the rajasthani folk music and dance, some other amusing shows, tasty authentic rajasthani cuisine with a camp fire. Sun rise is also great to watch. Do not miss the "jaisalmer war museum" on the way back.
Headed to jodhpur in car, it was all desert on the way, hot even in november but great to be surrounded by desert.Another beautiful city also called "blue city" literally painted in blue.Places to visit started with "ghadisar lake", "tillon ki pol" which had and interesting history. "Mehrangarh fort" , another historic place to visit and as u head out of the fort there are shops which sell the authentic bandhani stuff, very beautiful and eye catching. Can buy but i ve found them to be cheaper in jaipur market.Buy some jutis, really good ones and also see how they are actually made, every household does this juti making.Next day was visit to "umaid bhavan", live palace that means royal families still reside there.Part of it is a star hotel and some part is open for the visitors and absolutely no access to the royal residence ofcourse.
Bikaner was our next destination. As heard it is famous for the farsan or indian snacks (bikanerwala).Places to vist "junagarh fort" and "laxmi niwas palace" which is again a live royal residence. On the way back from bikaner, was the karnimata temple or the rat temple as popularly known. The excitement unfolded, rats every where, i was not scared of them so could enter the temple and literally rats all over the place, creepy, have to watch steps.Able to spot a white rat is considered to bring luck and we found one..yayy!!.Thats the end of bikaner and headed to jaipur.
It was evening, when we reached and soon went to "Albert hall museum"," birla mandir" enjoyed serene environment, beautiful sunset in the pink city.Next day seemed to be day for the forts, very sunny. Started with the "amer fort" which had the amazing longest fort wall.U can also take an elephant ride to the fort.Next are two forts "Nahargarh fort" and "Jaigarh fort" close by and also had a secret passage connecting them.Worlds largest canon "Jaivana" is placed on the hill top of one of these forts.Had a rajasthani thali for lunch which had the authnetic tasty dal bhati churma. Then visit to "city palace", "Jantar mantar", "Amber fort" and could only get a glimpse of "hawa mahal". Now came the time for shopping, bought some bhandani sarees, scarves, silver jewelry and some gifts for friends and relatives.Do not forget to taste "gevar", special sweet of rajasthan. There ends our trip and reached hotel, had dinner and took a stroll on the roads.Next day reached airport and back to pavilion.
Trip to rajasthan was really a visual treat and a great experience. Magnificient architecture, sand dunes of the desert, camel rides, culture, food, altogether can say "Incredible India".
