Do you want to experience Rajasthani culture and get an essence of Rajasthani village?

Do you want to try authentic Rajasthani food?

Do you have an evening to spend in Jaipur?

If your answer is “yes” each time, your go-to place is “CHOKHI DHANI” just 20 km away from Jaipur.

Basically, Chokhi Dhani Village is a replicated traditional Rajasthani village styled luxury resort that offers different cultural activity, performance arts, animal rides, shopping area and other fun activities.

Glimpse of Rajasthani Culture:

The whole area was divided in different parts and different corners were dedicated for different performances. Reaching there, we first noticed a bunch of Rajasthani ladies, drawing mehendi on the visitors’ palms for free. There was a very entertaining puppet show going on nearby. Eventually, we enjoyed several Rajasthani folk dance performances including the famous ‘Kalbelia Dance’ which was mesmerizing. Snake charming, acrobatic shows like walking on ropes, climbing on poles and fire perfomances were also drawing attention. There was even a fortune teller who was telling future with the help of a parrot 😅 (It was a while ago. I don’t remember what I asked the parrot then😁.) As I mentioned earlier that it was replica of Rajasthani village, it had all the elements present there for a rural atmosphere. There were temples, a pond, several rural architectures, a cow shed, several art demonstrations like weaving, pottery, roti cooking e.t.c. We even watched a recreation of Haldi Ghati Battle (children might find it interesting). Last but not the least, my father had a Champi head massage for Rs. 20 there.

Fun activities:

Chokhi dhani can be enjoyed by the children (and the children living inside the adults) because of all the animal rides (elephant ride, horse-carriage ride, camel safari), different fun games (bowling, archery, shooting the balloons e.t.c) and bioscope station. It also had several shops selling a nice collection of clothing, accessories, home decor and handicrafts. To my experience, not all of them were expensive. I bought several colourful hand bags for myself and my friends.

Food:

The main attraction of Chokhi Dhani was the authentic Rajasthani food. There were two options available, one being buffet and the other was traditional sitting down arrangement. We opted for the buffet. (Now I feel that sitting down option might have been better). However, we got to try the famous Dal bati churma and other Rajasthani delicacies. In my opinion, the taste was average but it did provide us the opportunity to try different dishes in a single meal 😋😋

Overall, it was a really beautiful experience with a well spent 4 hours. The atmosphere and the performances were out of the world. I loved the puppet show and dance performances and would highly recommend people to visit Chokhi Dhani in their trip to Rajasthan.
