Someone said it true, “Unplanned trips are the best ones...!! “December of 2018 was a boon for me. After a so happening study tour to Delhi, Agra and Fatehpur Sikri, it was time for Udaipur now. This so-called unplanned trip to Udaipur was far more exciting due to the matter of fact that it was just two days prior we decided to head for Rajasthan.
With a High excitement level and adrenaline gushing out I packed my bag pack and was ready for it. Accompanied by cousins, this trip was a fun for me. Pune to Mumbai, to Varodra, to Udaipur was our route.22nd December we reached the city of Lakes. Actually, Udaipur is city of Artificial lakes, capital of Mewari province founded in 1500 by the King then.
Frankly speaking the first impression of the city does not take you to an awe, but her magic is that you will need your time to fall for this city, slowly and all at once. Good local transport is a plus point for the places to roam around, we did exactly the same. Immediately after checking in and getting fresh decided to explore Udaipur locally. The city itself had so much to offer. The local market, the Ghats, Lake Pichola, The City Palace, Lake Fatehsagar, Sajjangarh, Karni Mata Kumbhalgarh, Chittorgarh,
Ranakpur Jain temple nearby. Having this list for our next 3days in our tasks we started our evening with lake pichola boat ride which makes us forget everything due to the serene evening and the ambience which lights have for us. Spending the entire evening along the lakeside our day one was done.
Being at a particular place at a perfect time is something very important for me.As exactly on a full moon night we went for the Karni Mata temple and to our wonder it was worth being there through a cable car and once you reach there the entire view of the city including lakes and palaces on a full moon night give the
different satisfaction to us. The temple situated at one of the highest altitude have a strange but real story of having white rats there above on the hill in the temple.Kumhalgarh and Ranakpur Jain temple are themselves a marvellous piece of architecture within themselves,Ranakpur Jain temple is designed in such a way that it’s made up hundreds of columns but if even if one column collapses the entire temple’s gona come down. Drained and devastated by these two places, a soothing end of the day was expected and nothing than Sajjangarh could have been better for that evening to be spent. Seeing the setting sun and thinking about life is something worth there.
Trying out local cuisine, roaming local streets will introduce us to Ghevar and gulpapdi some of the most famous local desserts from there. Dal batti churma is again a must try from there, a typical authentic Rajasthani cuisine. A shopping freak will always love the bandhani silk dupattas they offer us. Adding up leather belongings include diaries all tie favourite of everyone, bags and juttis and a lot more. Local markets never disappoint us.
Early morning walks on Ghats give us ample time for sketching and enjoying the sunrise. For travelling one just needs to step out of the comfort zone one has and adore the beauty that a place offers...Thus Udaipur will have a variety of things for us to show one just needs a proper perspective to thoroughly enjoy it because the chilly nights and salty water will be point of complain for some who can never appreciate what nature offers..
