City of lakes, Venice of the East, Lake city or simply Udaipur. It was a birthday gift for me, by me. YAY.. Anyways Ram leela was shot here so yeah that was another reason to visit this place (crazy Deepika fan :P). Started off with an overnight journey from NZM-Delhi to UDZ city.
Weather was pleasant throughout the duration of the trip.(lucky me :D). Despite visiting the place in the peak season the city was quiet and peaceful. You couldn't see much tourists (or they are just lost in one of those udaipur ki galiyaan OR the amazing cafes that they have by the lake).
My stay: ZOSTEL Udaipur : New concept in India(Hostels for backpackers). Simply loved it.Stayed in Female Dorm. PROS : View of the lake from the bed. Amazing rooftop. Astonishingly beautiful view.Toothsome food. Friendly staff. Goes easy on pocket. And you get to meet so many people from around the world. CONS : For me none. :)
Places I visited: City Palace : you gotta buy different tickets for museum, crystal gallery and the boat ride with includes visit to jagmandir.
Bagore ki Haveli (there is a show everyday at 7 in the evening it was okayish), Jagdish temple, Ambrai ghat, Gangaur ghat : These places could be covered on foot in half a day.
Karni mata temple, ropeway to the temple, monsoon palace and fatehsagar lake.a little farther although i would recommend to go to karni mata temple/ monsoon palace just for the view of the city from up above (the world so high)..:P
Places where I ate: Ambrai restaurant adjacent to ambrai ghat.Enjoy some flavorful dishes by the side of the lake under tree's shade..aahhhhhh..peace
Upre : This is the place where i want my future date to take me for dinner...enough said..:P Instantly fell in love with the ambiance. One has to go there to experience the 'loooovvvvevee in the air' thing..<3
Palliwal kachori wale : Good option for breakfast the first day.Though something was horribly wrong with the kachoris the second day. :/
German bakery by gangaur ghat: Chilli browny, Apple walnut. Good enough.
Israeli cafes on hanuman ghat : Good food, okay coffee. just cross the foot-over bridge and there you are.
Our very own ZOSTEL : Yes they have a their own rooftop restaurant. Chef made the choorma the first day we were there and it was among the best i have had till date. Food is good. :)
Souvenir : Udaipur is famous for its miniature paintings. Beautiful artwork.
All in all birthday well spent.. Will edit the experience soon and will add on more pics ASAP.
Please leave a feedback regarding the trip/writing/photographs or anything. Where all there is scope for improvement (Also where i am even a itsy bitsy good.. :P)
Travel to seek. Seek to get. :)
