We had just a day to see Jodhpur so we decided to see only two places- Umaid Bhawan Palace and Mehrangarh fort. From our SBBJ guest house we took Uber and went to Umaid Bhawan. The journey was smooth. Only a part of Umaid bhawan Palace which is the museum is accessible to visitors and rest part is converted to a luxurious hotel which is a restricted area. The museum enlightens us with the history of the royal family of Jodhpur and their culture. It has picture galleries, exhibits such as cutlery, utensils, clocks, dining area etc.
The vintage cars of the Maharajas are also on display in the garden in front of the museum.
After having lunch (a proper Rajasthani meal) at a friend's place we went to see Mehrangarh fort.We took elevator and started our tour of the fort from the top which offers a clear view of the Blue city. The palace displays old royal palanquins, arms, costumes, paintings and decorated period rooms.
After having finished with the sightseeing we went for shopping at Naya Raasta which is famous for jooties. We didn't spend much time there as we had to catch a bus to Udaipur.
