Most of us know the Golden Temple, the holy destination in Amritsar. A lot of us go there religiously to seek blessings of the Lord Almighty and some us go there to make a visit, to see the Holy shrine and maybe take a dip in the Sarovar, to enjoy the langar and to see the famous city of Amritsar.
While we can walk in at any hour of the day, the best darshan happens at Amrit vela, the time when the moon is still out and the sun is just about to show its first rays. This is the divine hour, the hour of the Gods. This is the time when the area has just been cleaned, the melodious Gurbani echoes from the temple and the Palki sahib (the Palanquin) arrives (4:30am). You can sit around the Sarovar and enjoy the sunrise listening to the melodious Kirtans (hymns). The first Ardaas (prayer) happens at 5:30 am. The whole experience is unique and beautiful making one feel as a part of the divine proceedings. Somewhere in the kitchens the Kadha Prasad is being cooked and the aroma engulfs the area. The kirtan brings peace and tranquility. As they say the early bird gets the prize. Don't miss the experience when you visit Amritsar.
