The best time to visit Pune is Monsoon but if you wanna see the real energy of Pune plan to visit during the Ganpati festival. The energy there is incomparable to anything you will ever feel . I traveled with my 8 month old kid and husband. My husband was travelling to Pune for the first time due to his work albeit he was excited about it. So he went to Shreemant Dagdusheth Halwai ganpati mandir all alone in the morning . I stayed in the hotel only with my baby. He came back in the afternoon.
Pune is Maharashtra's cultural capital. The 10 day festival culminates in carnival like procession along the busy through fares of the city .This is one the most important yearly festivals in the city .
You can stay near Dagdusheth Halwai ganpati mandir. So that you can walk and explore different pandals as well .On that day you will hardly find any auto or cab to visit. Roads are also blocked on that day because of the crowd.
The festival was made public with an aim of bringing people together .You will see that every neighborhood has a ganpati mandal that has been crafted by skilled artisans.
The environment here gives you a delightful and meditative state of mind. you will appreciate the beauty and efforts of people to make this festival beautiful .Some of these will have lighting effects ,floral decoration, eco friendly decoration etc .
One of the best things that you can enjoy is dhol Tashas that is played during the festival here .School and college students practised for months to play.
Well in the evening on ganesh chaturthi we went in different pandals as well and saw the culture and excitement of Pune that was awesome and incredible. At night we came back and had dinner.
You will see the excitement during the ganesh festival more than marriages .
