Finally it was the long waited D day. We sailed off on a huge vessel being seated on the lower deck. The sight of soaring white waves gushing onto our vessel was captivating. I enjoyed the swaying of the ship for a while until I felt seasick and climbed up to the upper deck where surprisingly it felt more stable.
Our faces gleamed as the sunlight hit our already tanned cheeks.
The sea was comparatively rough that day as told by the captain, who was kind enough to guide us through the functioning of the ship as we peeped into his cabin.
After one and half hour it was time for a short halt at Neil Island and known as Shaheed Island. Even without stepping onto the soft sand of this gorgeous island, it was easy to judge the marvel of the rightly known vegetable bowl of Andamans.
Island is yet an explored gem of Andamans with lucid blue waters, fresh aroma of the vegetation and placid aura in the winds.
We were on our toes to jump off the boat the soak in this beauty, however we had our day planned and reservations made for Havelock. Thus we decided not to make any changes to the original plan. Our boat took off and within no time we reached our destination.
As I got off the boat onto the soft white sand, my feet felt gentle warmth of the freshly receded waters. The air was filled with a light fragrance of coconut fond that soothed the nasal senses. Soon after our arrival, the driver escorted us to our nature friendly resort, nestled in a peaceful corner of the island.
The bamboo huts were warm and cozy with an open bathroom that had coconut trees as a canopy.
Showering under the open sky in a bamboo-walled bathroom filled with a whiff of fresh coconuts was an unforgettable experience.
After a relaxing bath, we headed off towards the beach.
The entire shoreline is connected with a series of resorts.
We strolled on the beach for some time and decided to try some local delicacies in a near-by market.
It was after walking a few miles that we reached
the market where fresh squids, lobsters, crabs and
a variety of sea-food was simmering in large cooking pans. Being a vegetarian I was depraved of the opportunity to gorb these yummy treats. However, my friends were quite delighted savoring these treats.
It was evening and the sky had lit up with a bright young moon and twinkling stars.
From the market we walked down to our resort under the moonlight and a starry sky. There were hardly any street lights and we enjoyed our trivial conversations gazing at the stars and strolling down the road. We could hear the crickets squeaking at a distance with soft music at intervals as we passed by several resorts.
Returning back to our shack, we turned on jazz and cheered to a few glasses of wine.
Dancing under the open sky with good music accompanied by the sound of gentle waves was relaxing.
We finally got under the blankets for a good night sleep with the ocean waves singing us a lullaby.
Coming up next - A dive into the deep blues...
so stay tuned for the final day
