Yes, destination is important but journey is even more important... So reaching a place while enjoying, comfortably and safely should be the top most priority.
From all over the world one can easily reach Chennai and then I preferred to rent a bike to reach my destination. East coast road which is among the famous roads of India easily connects Puducherry from Chennai, 150 KM drive and takes around 3-4 hrs depending upon the traffic.
I personally advice not to travel at night because of lack of street lights and only reflectors was there on the road.
No big Dhabas(like in north India ) in between just some small villages.
So I started around 5 in the evening and reached around 9 pm. First I checked in into the hostel Micasa which was nicely situated in the main market itself .
Then I headed towards a small burger outlet Canteen 18, personally the burger was okayish..
Next I went to Rock beach ( major attraction of Pudu) .. It was Saturday night and place was flooded with people. There are cafes along the beach road so I tried Sicily Cafe to cool down myself after driving.. This place was good, nice music, good vibes.
Next I explored streets and there are many places to hit the dance floor at the end of the beach road and very unique barbeque on the bike..
Now a good dessert to call a day off so one can have awesome ice cream at GMT on the Rock beach itself
So this is for the day.
Now as I am early morning person so I made myself ready to witness Sunrise. Trust me it was Sunday morning and I was like everyone must be enjoying sleep but there were lots of people for morning walk. So had a very refreshing morning walk and awesome south indian coffee at Le Cafe, simple yet beautiful cafe on the beach itself..
Then I headed towards Paradise beach, which is 8-9 KM away from Rock beach and then you have to take ferry to reach Paradise beach.
Those who wants to take dip in sea can head towards this beach as it was clean and fine .
Now from there I again went towards White Town( Near to Rock beach) another main attraction of Puducherry because of all the French Colonial Buildings. All the buildings are beautifully maintained giving you the feel of royalty. Went to one of the French Hotel in India, Le Dupleix and tried an Italian wine 😉. It was a Grapey🙈 experience.
Explored white town and visited one temple Manakula Vinayagar temple Pondicherry, trust me one of the most beautiful temple I ever seen ( No photography allowed ) must visit and there are lots of shops near by to this temple, explore the market of Puducherry.
Now I checked out from my Hostel and planned to Visit Auroville, it is an Ashram and it comes on the way while going back to Chennai . This place Auroville is so organic that you feel connected to the Earth and there is meditation sessions also so kindly book reservation a day before to attend it. A peaceful place, lots of organic French Cafes, must visit in Puducherry.
So this ends my two day trip to Puducherry, this place is culturally different, cheap booze, clean beaches and nice place to Visit for 2 days.
