17th October,2015,Navrartri festival was on.Me and few of my friends were planning to go for a trek to Kothaligad(Peth). One by one some of them backed out and the only one's left were me,neha and prasen. We decided to carry on with the trek anyway.I took the usual 3.53 am train from Virar and Neha got in at Santacruz in the same train. We further met Prasen at Dadar station and took a train to Karjat. We boarded an S.T.bus from Karjat station to Ambivali. We had our breakfast in the village itself and it was too heavy and wer tad lazy to begin the trek. The villager who provided us with breakfast told us that the last return bus is around 5-5.30 pm and it would be hard to find transportation back thereafter. That gave us the kick required and we began are trek right away.A couple of village dogs decided to accompany us.We made our way to the plateau(where Peth village is situated) at a normal pace, though were tired to the scorching October heat.We decided to take a short break under the tree where an elderly woman was selling lemonade.I asked at lady how many trekkers have gone up to the fort todayShe said you 3 are the 1st one's today.I was quite surprised that inspite being a Sunday there were no trekkers here today. And I was sure no one would be coming from behind since we started late going by normal trekking time standards. We continued our trek after the break and reached the beautiful carved steps in sometime.Neha took her own sweet time in getting her photos clicked by us.We explored the fort and it was quite fascinating to have the privilege of having the fort to ourself and no one to disturb us while we saw each and every corner of the fort.We started our descend and it was a brisk and almost a non stop one. Once back at Ambivali we were quite hungry and to our surprise we found a hotel were Chinese was being prepared.Since we had sometime before our return bus we did hog on that. After boarding the bus,we did catch the train we intended too.I was glad the plan didn't get canceled because majority people backed out otherwise I would have missed on the surreal experience of having the fort to ourselves.
