DAY-1
Holi is here and it's time to take break.this time we decided it's going to be a road trip to Haridwar, Rishikesh Dehradun, and Mussoorie. Our first destination was Rishikesh which was around 680kms from our home town Kanpur. It was quite a task to travel this much in one go but thanks to developing infrastructure of our country most of the route had express highways. We decided to leave early morning and we did so everyone was ready on time and we left the city around 6 am. When you are going on holiday the sunrise of your city looks beautiful. We saw a beautiful sunrise on the highway while driving.
Clear blue sky green land and express highway clubbed with soothing songs. It was a perfect start to the day. The best part of the road trip is that you can take your own time. We took many halts tried lots of street food. The journey to Rishikesh was fun. We reached our destination for the day around 8 pm. We had our holiday home at Rishikesh house which was built on foothills of mountains away from the city near the raja Ji national forest. After the whole day of the journey, we all were very tired so without wasting any time we went to bed straight away.
DAY-2
The next morning was a pleasant surprise I woke up early around 5 am. with the melodious songs of birds. I immediately got off the bed and rush to the roof what I saw was least expected at 5am.to my surprise I was welcomed by a full moon playing hide and seek with the clouds early morning it was a jaw-dropping view. Chilling weather Fullmoon and song of birds. Nature was ready to welcome the boss sun with open arms. I rushed down to wake everyone but by the time I came back the moon was lost in the sky as if it wanted no one else to see it.
Never the less the moon was gone but the sun was about to rise the sky was turning red and the rays of sun started hitting the peak of the mountains as the day was taking over we were astonished to see the beauty of the place we were staying. We can easily hear the sound of running water and can see the endless jungle right in front of our eyes.
It was Holi today we wished each other with colors kids had fun playing with their water cannon. Tea was tasting better today. After lots of fun, we decided to explore the place we took our car and started driving it towards the direction of the river soon we reached the river bank. It was a place with a beautiful panoramic view of the mountains river and blue sky. After clicking photographs and spending some me-time. We came back to our stay and had some food.
HAR KI PAURI
Now it was time to take a dip in the holy water of Ganga at har ki pauri. It was a wonderful experience. Taking a dip in a cold crystal clear water of Ganga was a very relaxing experience even kids enjoyed the same after spending about 1hr in the water we were recharged for the rest of the day.
The ghats of har ki pauri were very well maintained and on can see the efforts made by govt. one can easily notice awareness among the tourists as well.
GANGA AARTI
In the evening we came back to har ki pauri for Ganga aarti atmosphere of this place was majestic. By this time thousands of devotees gathered at the banks of river Ganga. To be a part of Ganga aarti. The chants of har har gange by the crowd was making the atmosphere truly divine.ganga aarti of Haridwar is famous worldwide people all around the world come here to witness it. Somehow we managed to stand just next to the center stage. The whole place was taken over by a golden light. And the reflexion of light in running water of the river was giving it life. It felt amazing to be a part of such an event we felt blessed. In other words, we can say it just a way in which people say thanks or pay their tribute to a holy river for all that it has given to us whole ecosystem and vegetation of India highly depend on Ganga
RISHIKESH (day-3)
It was more of a relaxing day we got up late in the morning and planned to visit Laxman jhula in Rishikesh. It was a hot day and visiting Laxman jhula was not a good idea it was an overcrowded place. Everyone around wanted to be on the bridge only. Including cows, monkeys, bikes, and obviously tourists. We clicked few pictures and decided not to waste our time at this place instead we found a peaceful place to sit near river bank which proved to be a good decision as we enjoyed cool breeze and beautiful sunset.
Rishikesh to Mussoorie (day-4)
We left Rishikesh around 9 am. it was only 76km. after crossing Dehradun we came across a beautiful road with forest on both the side we decided to stop and explore the calmness of the place we parked our vehicle on side of the road and went few meters inside the forest one can feel the silence of the place even our steps on a dry leaves can be heard easily. The more we were getting inside more it was getting quieter. After a walk of a few meters, we decided not to go further because it was a dense forest and there was a risk of snakes and animals. we clicked some beautiful pics and spend some time enjoying one of the most peaceful places of our trip. Holidays are not always about the destination some time taking unplanned breaks on the way and exploring the untouched nature is priceless.
Now it was time to hit the road again as our next destination Mussoorie is not far now. After driving for another half an hour we started gaining elevation and was very excited to visit the queens of hills. But to our surprise just 15 km before Mussoorie we got stuck in a very heavy traffic jam. The inflow of the tourist from Delhi resulting in a heavy load of traffic. It took us around 2hrs to travel 15kms and we were shocked to see the rush in Mussoorie. But the best part was our hotel which was away from the main market and probably with the best possible location of the hill station we had our prior bookings with the sterling Mussoorie which proved to be a very good decision made by us.
After reaching our hotel room we were pleasantly surprised to see the interior of the room as well as the beautiful landscape from our balcony. Away from all the hustle and bustle of the main market, it was a beautiful property at a very peaceful place.
MALL ROAD
Now it was time to relax and freshen up we decided to visit the mall road in the evening. After taking a power nap and shower we were ready to explore mall road. As expected it was too crowded we started tasting street food one by one sweet corn, pav bhaji, Maggie was the best of them. After having some food we did a bit of window shopping. But to be very honest we were not here for this so we went back to our room everyone gathered in the living area with lots of chit chat and a beautiful view of Dehradun in the night we ended our day.
Lal Tibba (day-5)
Second last day of our trip after enjoying the beautiful sunrise from our balcony with hot tea. We decided to visit Lal Tibba the highest point of Mussoorie driving from Mussoorie to Lal Tibba is quiet difficult and strictly not advisable for bingers. It requires a bit of experience to drive on such narrow and elevating roads. If not comfortable it's advisable to hire a local taxi for the same. We reached Lal Tibba around noon just opposite to Mussoorie the world is so quiet here. Stand on the edge of the cliff spread your arms close your eyes and inhale the fresh cool breeze reaching you after touching the snow-capped mountains you will surely fall in love with this place. Walking on shaded peaceful roads covered by deodar and oak trees will detox both your body and soul. it's a beautiful point which enables us to see the range of beautiful snow-capped mountains, it was a treat to watch such a beautiful painting by god. You can spend hours watching it. can also use the telescope(provided on rent) to have a closer look.
The motive of our trip was not to run after any itinerary we wanted to spend some time in a lap of nature and this is it. Walking down the road we came across a beautiful private cottage which belongs to the famous actor Victor Mukherjee. It's not hard to understand why celebs like Sachin Tendulkar and victor Mukherjee have made this place their second home.
Came across a beautiful quote written on the tree if you are in search of peace it's important to be silent. So true isn't it.
The rest of the day was dedicated to children's our hotel had some adventure activities for children so we spend the rest of our day with them.
Last day kempty falls (day-6)
As they say last but not the least the best was yet to come have you ever experience a rainy day in hills with a mug of hot coffee? Yes that's how our final day started it was raining and the weather was extremely cold we were offered an umbrella by the hotel so that we can walk around the property enjoying the rain. We were lucky enough to experience it. we checked out around 1.30pm obviously we were busy enjoying the weather. By the time we checked out the rain slowed down so we decided to visit kempty falls before leaving hills. It took us only one hour to reach. Kempty falls it was a beautiful sight to watch kempty falls from a distance but again too much of human interference and construction can kill the real beauty of nature the same was a case with kempty falls. We took a ropeway to save some time the only thing which favored us was the weather which kept our spirit high and we enjoyed another cup of coffee sitting just next to falls.
Journey back to home was equally fun as we took a different route while returning which allowed us to drive along with the flowing water of river Ganga and Rajaji national park for many kilometers. Don't forget to taste fresh strawberry on the way.
