We went to Paris in February when everyone wants to avoid it for cold weather & it was best decision by us.
Pros : 1) Less crowd in all tourist places, means no extra charges for Skip the lines for entering to Museums 2) Cheaper Hotels 3) Generally Paris is known for theft & robbing but we didn't faced anything because of too less crowd in tourist places. 4) Better food 5) Less crowd in Public Transport
Cons : 1) Temperature upto -5°C.
Our Paris visit cost us just Indian Rupees 10K per person for 2 days which includes Stay, Food, Transportation, Seine River Cruise & entry to various places. Here is how & when we planned everything.
We started planning for this trip 2 months before the schedule departure from India. First thing that we decided was that we are going to use Public Transport over Cabs for our daily commute on which basis we decided our stay places which should be near to metro stations. Then we decided to go for Homestays over Hotels, they were cheap (approx Rs 3K with tax per day for 2 persons during our whole Trip), comfy, perks of having advice on travel from Local people & they have kitchen. Kitchen is major point because we use to carry our water from kitchen otherwise which costs around Euro 2.5 (Rs 200)for each bottle.
As soon as we landed in Paris Airport we took a 24 Hour pass (Mobilis- Euro 8.5) through which we can travel from 12am to 12am in all Trains, Bus, Metro, etc for unlimited time. Other passes (Hop-on Hop-Off, Full Day normal pass, etc) were costly & not of much use as we were not going to visit all Museums. Note all Tourist places are in Zone 1 & 2 so just purchase pass for that 2 zones. After reaching our room we headed for Effile Tower visit (advised to visit Effile tower twice-1 in Day time & 1 in night time), we have booked it for 2nd Floor with lift online (better to book it before otherwise it will be over). After visiting Effile Tower we headed for Arc De Triomphe (must visit-its very peaceful). After Arc De Triomphe we headed for Opera (we didn't took any guided tour instead read everything in Google). Taking full day pass was best thing because we got discount on 1 entry and we were moving to & fro fast without thinking about bus tickets & charges. This is how we ended for Day 1 in Paris
Day 2: We checked out from our room & kept our luggage with hosts(without paying anything extra-which hotels don't allow). We headed to Louvre Museum 1st because it was going to take a lot of time (approx 3 Hours). After that we visited Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris. After that we visited Mont Marte (didn't paid for its tour-just saw parts which were Free). By that time we were Hungry & headed to Moulin Rouge (didn't paid for its tour) it has some best street food options even for Vegetarians. After that we went to Palais Garnier (beautiful), Palais de Justice (avoidable) & Place de la Concorde. Then we again headed for Effile tower as we were having booking for Scenic River Cruise (its an open booking from 10am to 11pm). Must have thing when you are in Paris, we enjoyed this 1 hour most. They cover more than 30 Bridges & almost all major parts of city. Then we again went to have some pictures in front of Effile tower & headed to board our flight for next Destination of our Trip. For Airport our AirBnB host dropped us for Euro 1.5 per person.
Note : this post is just based for Paris, for our whole Europe Trip there is separate post which covers all Flight Tickets and other Visa expenses.
