I and my friend visited Renukaji Lake in March this year (2022) when the weather was just perfect. Renukaji is a religious locale in Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh, not very far from Nahan and Paonta Sahib. It offers a blend of religion for devoted as well for fun seekers.

According to history Renuka Lake is regarded as the embodiment of Renukaji, the wife of sage Jamadagini and mother of Parshuram, one of the ten Avtars of Lord Vishnu. Shaped like a profile of a woman, it is the largest lake in Himachal. The placid stretch of water is home to variety of fish.

There are a few hotels around the place. We stayed for two nights at the HPTDC which is bang opposite the lake and the best option. Besides temples there is also a mini zoo which is home to a few wild animals like tiger, bears, deer, etc. You can even do boating in the lake. The annual Renuka fair is held during November for a week.
