Bungus valley is the most beautiful and unexplored valley located in Kupwara district. It is known for its natural breathtaking beauty with lush green meadows. It has got two routes, one is from Kupwara side and one is from Handwara side. When I visited this place road construction upto valley was under progress. It might be completed by now.

I alongwith one of my friend, we both had planned this trip with our mothers. We took kupwara route. From Srinagar we have come to Kupwara. As we reached there in the evening so we stayed for a night in Kupwara in an army guest house. We booked a cab from Srinagar for this trip.
On day 2, we started a little early from our guest rooms to reach the location from where our Trek to bungus valley would start. Since at that time roads were under construction, so vehicle would go only upto a certain distance after that we have to go by foot. We have started our trekking at around 0900hrs.
Since this place was unexplored, so as per the little information I got, we have expected it to be a 2 hr trek, which we thought, that our mothers are fit and strong ladies, it would not be uncomfortable for them.
But I was wrong, it ended up to be of around 5 hr trek. At some point we have told our mothers that I think we should go back, as it was taking so much time and moving cross country was not easy for them at the age of 60. But hatsoff to their strength and will power, they both insisted that we will complete this trek, we will not go back without watching this beautiful valley now.
At around 1400hr we finally reached bungus valley. After watching the mesmerizing beauty of that place, all our tiredness went off. The view in front of us was so beautiful. Lush green meadows, cattle grazing through them, it felt no less than a mini Switzerland.
After enjoying the view for 2 hrs, we started moving back to our vehicle. By 1900hrs we got down back to our vehicle.
From there we went to Gulmarg which was our next stop.
At Gulmarg again we have stayed at one of the army guest house. Courtesy one of my friend for the same.
At Gulmarg we have gone for Gandola ride upto to second stage. We have visited famous Shiv temple. Then we all had lunch at Khyber hotel, which was very tasty. Khyber hotel is one the best hotel there with amazing view.
Then we returned back to Srinagar.
This trip was most memorable specially for our mothers as they had done trekking at this age and they were happy visiting all the beautiful places.
Since we had stayed at Army guest houses, so our stay cost was not that much, but if you stay in hotel it gonna be little costly specially in peak seasons.
Cab charges - Rs 9000 for 3 days trip.
Now that road connectivity has also come up, so it's gonna be easy to reach there. Must go place.
