Kashmir is blessed with abundance of natural beauty however, Nagaberi trek in Aripal tehsil of Pulwama district is an out of the world trekking experience. Located around 75 kms away from Srinagar, this region is part of Upper Dachigam and the trek starts from Hajin area of Satoora. From Tral the road leads upto Hajin from where the actual trek begins. As you move further, you arrive at Asthanar which is an enchanting area. First you will see Tathbal where the water seems to girgle under the boulders however, as you approach ahead you see only small trickles of water & one realises that it is nature's magic using water droplets. Moving further, you have to cross a narrow strip that barely allows one person to pass. After trekking further, one can reach Lower Gagiyadi & Upper Gagiyadi. This region is inhabited by Gujjar tribes every year who come here to graze their herds in the meadows popular for its medicinal herbs. Next are the massive meadows of Gunasnar where there is endless serenity. The grass beneath your feet will be so velvety that you will be transported in a different world. As you go further, two maidans(local name Bod medan and Lakut medan) will come which can be your resting stop. One can set up tents here and relax in the lap of nature. With no pine trees around, this area offers clear vistas to the eyes. One can stay here for 2 to 5 days as per their hearts content. Thereafter, you can head towards Tarsar Marsar lakes which offers most magestic landscapes of Nagbaren . These twin lakes trek is a soul enriching experience in itself as one can absorb the views of Mount Kohloi. Trek to Marsar is steep thus, it will be a much needed rejuvenating break as you camp at Tarsar lake & get refreshed at the banks of its pristine waters. If you chose to keep moving further straight, you will reach Lidderwat in Pahalgam. The area Nagaberi needs conservation & protection as it is rich in medicinal herbs. The virgin landscapes are abundant in raw, untouched beauty and we need to ensure that it stays as it is.
