Norway is a happy place

Statistically, Norway is said to be a very happy place and Norwegians, happy people. In 2014, Norway was ranked the most prosperous country in the world. This came out in the Prosperity Index report published every year by the Legatum Institute. The report took into consideration things such as the economy, personal freedom and education. Norway also came tops in indices such as social capital which also covers the level of trust the people have for themselves and their government. If that doesn’t guarantee happiness, nothing else will.

Norwegians are good cooks

If you are looking for where to come across some of the best dishes in the world, then your trip to Norway is on point. Very few foreigners know that Norwegians are some of the best cooks on earth. In fact, there are speculations that only the French can cook better. Maybe because 5 Norwegians have won the Bocuse d'Or, one of the most popular and prestigious cooking competition in the world. I mean, if Norwegians can go to France and come first in their own competition, they must be really good cooks second only to the French.

Christmas tradition

Besides being very happy and cooking great dishes, Oslo, the capital of Norway since 1947 has been donated one of the largest Christmas trees to Britain. Come Christmas, you will see a king sized Christmas tree lighting up Trafalgar Square. A different tree is brought across from Norway every year. They do this to show appreciation for the help the country received from UK during the Second World War. I mean, if people remember kind gestures this way, the world will be a much better place.

They import trash

Yes, you got that right. Norway imports trash from several countries in Europe including different cities in UK. Why do they do that? Because the country is at the forefront of bio-degradable energy. In fact, more than half the buildings in Oslo are heated up with electricity generated from the incineration of these wastes.

It is said that Norwegians are avid readers. Reading more per person than any other nation on earth. As a matter of fact, each person spends an average of almost 100 euros on books every year. It is no wonder that more than 2000 new books come out each year in the Kingdom of Norway.
