2 days in Oslo

Tripoto

I had only 48 hours to explore the Norwegian capital. In order to make good use of every minute, I carefully planned the trip and ordered a rental car on the website.

Acquaintance with the port city began with a walk along the embankment. Its berths were full of a forest of masts of dozens of ships. A large white building, shining with marble and granite, caught my eye. This is how the local Opera House looks like a glacier rising from the Oslofjord.

A worthy background for this architectural miracle is a creative business complex called "Barcode". Its 12 buildings of varying heights and widths are positioned to resemble a barcode from a distance.

The old-timer of the city, the Akershus Fortress, is strictly watching the urban innovations. Built in the 13th century and later converted into a Renaissance palace, it is now used as the office of the prime minister.

The dominant feature of the embankment is the majestic City Hall. The most intriguing part of it is the hall where the Nobel Peace Prize is awarded annually.

From the embankment, I went to the heart of the city - Karl Johan Street. Here she found the famous Parliament building, guarded by two lions, and the Royal Palace with a park and square.

On the same day, I visited the exhibition of sculptures by Gustav Vigeland. It is located in Frogner Park and consists of 200 bronze, iron and granite figures. Among them was “Crying Boy”, familiar to me from photos on social networks.

On the second day, I went on a cruise on the Oslofjord. Our route passed along the embankment, past small but picturesque islands. Seascapes, fascinating stories of the guide, a coffee break on Hovedeia Island near the ruins of a medieval monastery - all this gave a lot of unforgettable minutes.

I regret one thing: I didn't have enough time to visit the Bygdey peninsula, famous for its maritime museums. Therefore, next time, in order to see all the "chips" of the Norwegian capital (and at the same time save the budget), I will order the Oslo Pass.
